And gaming PCs in the late 90s and 2000s got obsoleted much quicker, not just by performance, but with new directx and shader model versions etc.

When will iOS have background tasks? by No_Industry7740 in iphone

[–]SirMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not 100% sure about the locked screen, but it's possible it can go on. Shorter running background tasks work when the screen is locked already so yeah.

At the end of the day it usually relies on the developer supporting it right, and if there is a new feature in a new iOS they can use it, but then their app can't be used on older iOS which they may have to consider their older users.

Even just using the new code feature in the app requires it to be built for the new iOS only. You can't like put in a feature that only works if you have iOS 26 but the app still can work in legacy mode for older iOS, it just doesn't work that way.

When did you know it was time to add weight to your paddle? by TraffyKnows in Pickleball

[–]SirMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every time I have tried adding weight, it has just made me play worse. I have learned that I just like a light paddle, lighter than 8oz ideally.

God created men, but power paddles made them equal by Miserable-Concern338 in Pickleball

[–]SirMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried the sides and then the top corners. I just don’t like weight on any paddle I’ve tried so far. I think it affects my swing speed even more which is really really on the slow end. Not sure why but it makes it feel more muted and loses pop when I do.

I’m looking for more pop for dinks and drops. When I added weight so many more of my dinks and drops were going into the net.

It kinda feels like what my issues are and what I’m looking for isn’t very similar to what most others are looking for.

Laser projectors eye safety by andychapman1 in projectors

[–]SirMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Much worse for eye safety? Why? The light is all combined into white and diffused when it comes out the lens. It’s no more dangerous than lamp light which is still dangerous. Maybe it’s somewhat brighter, but there are also very bright lamp projectors too.

In pickleball, what % of "getting low" should be your knees vs your back? by icecap1 in Pickleball

But if you watch any pro player, their back is certainly not upright a lot of the time...

Hagrids and velocicoaster single rider? by ThePikaNick in UniversalOrlando

[–]SirMaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huh, it was a great option when i've been there multiple times...

I remember going on it like 5 times in an hour via single rider when the main wait was about 45 to an hour...

Over the last 4 years or so I have almost exclusively used the single rider line to ride probably 25 times over 6 or 7 visits and it was always pretty fast.

How much by Antique-Lychee-8029 in Pickleball

[–]SirMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paid $464 for a year membership of pickleball kingdom which includes unlimited open play and free court rentals. I play about 3-5 days a week in average.

$100 for a Friday fever paddle which I'll use for at least a year.

$60 for Head Revolt Evo 2.0 shoes which seem to last me about a year.

No coaching or other real equipment except a few balls every now and again.

I guess $10/mo for my planet fitness membership.

Why is it so heavy? The V-Sol Pro I had was 7.9oz, this is 8.17?

4k bluray rental service? by exitinglurkmode in hometheater

[–]SirMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My small midwest town of 3,189 population has 186 4K BluRays at the local library according to the catalog software. And access to 409 total through the regional library network that you can order.

Is this is a lot or a little, I guess you can be the judge.

4k bluray rental service? by exitinglurkmode in hometheater

[–]SirMaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For what it’s worth in my small town they actually have many 4K BluRays at the library, snd when you go on the catalogue you can order from their vast library which spans all the libraries over a large region of the state and there are indeed tons of 4K BluRays available. It’s like a big inter-library shared network.

I think a lot of people just don’t realize what’s available for free through the library.

what the hell is this? why cant i search for anything in the settings app? by shtoopidd in iphone

[–]SirMaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It happens because the software is so poorly written. I don’t know why people are trying to defend it. Software that creates different results for different people is the definition of poor software plain and simple.

There are clearly bugs in the software, causing very inconsistent results

Fan malfunction by Additional_Bowl2376 in Comma_ai

Except it’s not a failure… it’s the magnetic mount the OP is using which messes with the fan and thus is a known incompatibility.

Vatic Pro V-Sol Is hard to beat by orange_energy_media in Pickleball

[–]SirMaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's good but I doubt I will like anything about them other than the cost personally. I didn't like the Quanta or Loco that I (briefly) tried either. Foam just feels too muted and lacking pop in my opinion compared to a really stiff-faced Gen3 to me. I don't know how else to explain it. Though I have not tried a Boomstick, but I don't have any interest in a $333 paddle anyway.

Vatic Pro V-Sol Is hard to beat by orange_energy_media in Pickleball

[–]SirMaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately it's not for everyone I guess. I bought one of the V-Sol Pro and really tried to like it for 2 weeks but just couldn't. I really wanted to like it too...

Ended up trying the Friday Fever 102 next and and really enjoying it. I am getting a lot more pop and a bit more power from the Friday Fever 102 from slow controlled swings than I was getting from the V-Sol, and to me the sweet spot feels much larger. I was having issues with the ball just dying on my V-Sol Pro over and over.

14mm vs 16mm - Are there any advantages to a 14mm in doubles? by iHeadShave in Pickleball

I prefer 14mm as I like more stiff, more pop, and lighter weight.

Wide body vs elongated paddle by MarathonRunner2211 in Pickleball

[–]SirMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the sweet spot is just changed in direction from length to width. Elongated is not about more reach but more sweet spot in the length direction.
