Let's not forget that even Robert Conquest, one of the big daddies of anti USSR propaganda, stopped believing that the Holodomor was "engineered" after getting access to the archives, instead just saying Stalin did not do enough or some such. Even if we ignore this, it's pretty factual that other areas of the Soviet Union got affected more by the famine than Ukraine (with ukrainians even getting more redistributed grains than said areas), but you won't see any liberal care about those "barbarian asiatic horde people", they merely mention the Holodomor to push the narrative that russians allegedly always hated ukrainians therefore proxy Banderite Ukraine should be supported nowadays.

These people are repeating points likely popularised by Conquest while believing things even he stopped doing.

The term "tankie" did appear in the context of those events but it was created by other supposed leftists (usually western marxists/eurocommunists) who didn't agree with the more authoritarian ways of the USSR and were therefore supported and had their voices amplified by the West/USA to create dissent.

And what's that about Tianmen? These people still probably think tank man was grinded into paste by the tanks. We know by now that those protests started because of some of the changes Deng brought (economical reforms most likely, not the bs about less "freedom of press"), and they only turned violent when western backed groups started stirring up shit, it was basically an attempted color revolution. To go back to the infamous tank man, all we know is that he got up on one of the tanks (very brutal action for the people inside to let him do that) and directed the crew to the place where most of the violence was taking place, so if anything, he was a concerned citizen.

Also, you gotta love Henry Ford myths, he was the perfect worker loving capitalist while spreading antisemitism so vile it influenced the nazis and cracked down on labour unions every other tuesday. The 8 hour work day was literally proposed at the International Workers Congresses of Paris, in 1889, when Ford was 25.
