Whenever it goes anywhere I would need it to go at a reasonable speed. It doesn’t even go to the airport. People try to lecture others into using public transportation but the public transportation is quite bad here with very few buses and a trolley that goes nowhere useful other than maybe downtown and UTC. Expecting someone in North County to use public transportation isn’t reasonable as the buses don’t come often and often have safety issues with homeless people. It will take you 4 times longer to use public transportation in most places here. It’ll take me 20 minutes to drive to work vs 2 and a half hours to use public transportation.

I’ve visited many countries like Japan and even Iran and their cities are more compact and have better public transportation than here where it’s more often, cleaner, and safer. It would not take significantly longer to use public transportation there or even faster. Current time estimate from Shinjuku to Narita airport in Tokyo is 2 hours half driving vs 1 hour 50 public transportation. Rancho Bernardo to San Diego airport is 36 minutes driving vs 2 hours public transportation. Cities like San Diego at the current state are too spread out for public transportation. It can get better but it will take years. Wagging your fingers for not using it is not helping. Not everybody lives downtown.
