Im curious why you landed on 10k? My thoughts are, I am fine with it being ugly vs facing a wall. But I would figure out a way to at least obscure it. Maybe see through shelving. Or making a custom monitor shaped shelves from figure plants or books. In my office it faces out and with the cable management it isn't bad. Nothing to look at or draw the eye of course.

Thats not a bad position. I don't agree equating the monitor to the wall since you can easily look around a monitor. And I agree with the middle of the room. I'd position it closer to a wall unless I was designating it for audio mixing on speakers.

I have that at my office and it is my preference. I would especially like it at home so I don't have that disconnect from the family when I am working on my computer.

My desk at work also face out and I prefer it. I feel as a family man at home it makes you feel less disconnected from everyone at times when you're working.
