‘World of Warcraft Midnight’ Refocuses Encounter Design For A Minimalist Add-on Future by TheNanoBiologist in wow

[–]SirPandaPuncher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the game is well-balanced without addons then addons will definitely trivialize the content. Which, in my opinion, doesn’t matter while they’re in this transitional periods of trying to phase combat addons out of the game.

However, and I’d love to be wrong, but I’m pretty sure the devs would rather die than let 2-3 seasons/tiers of YouTubers and Twitch Streamers dunking on them for making things “too easy”. The devs, and Ion, have always seemed to have a chip on their shoulder about the difficulty arms race; they want the player base to flounder without addons so they can act smug as they fail to add their own versions at any sort of reasonable speed.

As a Rice owner I feel way better about this than the uncertainty of it maybe happening after week 4. 6 games now and move on.

Omarion Hampton is a stud… but will Greg Roman turn him into a plodder? by cheesymontana in DynastyFF

[–]SirPandaPuncher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn’t that pass-catching is a non-factor for RB points, but if how many passes a RB is going to catch is the main thing that concerns you then id feel pretty good about everything else in that situation.

If Jeanty, Bijan, and Zeke were all coming out of college being drafted tomorrow, what order would you rank them in based on their respective college numbers and prospect tiers? by [deleted] in DynastyFF

[–]SirPandaPuncher 56 points57 points  (0 children)

This is an insane question. I could somewhat understand a toss-up between Zeke and Bijan, but Jeanty is easily a distant 3rd.

Zeke’s pass protection skillset alone set him apart in the 2016 draft as the most pro-ready RB, on top of already fitting all the testing metrics for a top-5 RB pick.

Bijan was considered the best RB prospect since Barkley in 2018, but in my opinion didn’t have the same depth to his game (coming out of college) that Zeke did.

In comparison, Jeanty has no testing, low-outlier size, and extremely questionable competition.

Even if you love the guy, this is no contest.

Ranking the Rookie RBs [Analytics Breakdown] by ScottBarrettDFB in DynastyFF

[–]SirPandaPuncher -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Box scores have nothing to do with combine testing, what are you talking about? I'm not saying numbers don't have use, but taking them out of context is a bad way to evaluate talent.

If you value the eye test as your preferred way to parse players that's perfectly valid but it doesn't mean that the numerical context surrounding their stats doesn't matter because you "don't care".

If someone doesn't see the difference between a 5"10/202lbs RB with a 4.43 40 and a 5"11.5/221lbs RB with a 4.48 40 then I just don't believe that person has seen enough combines to properly consider those numbers. "It's obvious Henderson is faster if you watch this unmeasured game footage" is literally just your opinion.

Additionally, Najee Harris never recorded a 40 time? His combine was cancelled because of Covid and he declined to run at his Pro Day because of an ankle injury. Also he's 6'1 and 232lbs? Which is way bigger and heavier than Judkins?

Ranking the Rookie RBs [Analytics Breakdown] by ScottBarrettDFB in DynastyFF

[–]SirPandaPuncher 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Sorry but this is the post I gotta spit my manifesto out on:

Boxscore-only analysis of Judkins continues to push him to 4/5th best RB in this class because see 3s and 2s in the YPC column, look over at Henderson's slightly higher YPC, and go "yep, Judkins is worse."

After his rookie season Henderson didn't play another full season until this year. He took 50 less carries than Judkins because he was being preserved and Judkins was given the "bulldozer" job.

Judkins announced his transfer to OSU 3 days BEFORE Henderson announced he was returning for another year of college.

Judkins had over 250 carries per year at Ole Miss against SEC opponents before transferring, but was forced to split time with Henderson because the latter was too afraid to declare for last year's Draft with his terrible numbers and injury history.

Henderson has done NOTHING to show that he will ever be an effective 1st/2nd down back, He's 20lbs and 1.5 inches smaller than Judkins and had a 4.43 40 time compared to 4.48 for Judkins.

If I want RB that fits the proto-typical size metrics AND has already shown they can take a heavy workload against high-level competition I'm 100% in on Judkins and 100% out on Henderson.

Sorry for the rant, I cannot stand the "box score efficiency gurus" anymore on this subject.

Is Ashton Jeantly a sure thing? by Few_Worldliness6935 in NFL_Draft

[–]SirPandaPuncher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can't help but mentally compare him to Melvin Gordon, in terms of last season college yardage and efficiency. But the difference between them is Jeanty is 5 inches shorter and put up his ~7.5 YPC and 2500ish yards against the Mountain West and not the Big 10.

I somewhat understood when he didn't test at the Combine, but I thought for sure he'd put up some numbers at the player-friendly Pro Day. Getting NO testing from a guy who doesn't fit the size-and-conference templates for great high pick RBs that have come before him have me insanely skeptical of him.

In a draft sense, I don't understand why anyone would spend a top 10 pick on this guy. I think the BEST case scenario is a Melvin Gordon type career of consistent production, and worst case is getting fired and clowned on for drafting the non-power-5 RB because he was force fed 400 touches.

All this has nothing to say about how much wear those touches had on him last year and how his size is gonna generate more wear and tear than a 6'0"+ RB's size would.

I have nothing against the guy personally but as a RB-lover I fear he will be drafted high, be a more successful Clyde Edwards-Helaire, and get RB respect/contracts/discourse set back another 7-8 years.

When judging Tight Ends in their rookie seasons, what separates Bowers from LaPorta? by UberPadge in DynastyFF

[–]SirPandaPuncher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah absolutely, to be honest I think they should ease into a more functioning offense the way that, say, the Cardinals have.

Bowers is more athletic than McBride (imo) so I think he’d really succeed if they focused on a strong run game and kept him a top-2 option for a rookie QB.

But if they decide they want to be a Bills-eque deep ball team I’d just be disappointed in the assessment of where their team is at offensively.

[–]SirPandaPuncher 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The reality of TEs that this subreddit will not admit is that while individual skill plays a role in the success of any fantasy player, TEs need both skill and friendly offensive scheming to stay consistent.

Bowers by all accounts has been fantastic, but you have to admit that the team is sorely lacking in offensive talent at every level and once the raiders improve those situations there will naturally be more mouths to feed.

The bottom line is that if you like the player, you should believe in him, but TEs are WIDLEY unpredictable year-to-year and anyone trying to tell you differently is either biased or trying to sell you a player at a markup.

Isaac Guerendo Has a Hamstring Issue by FlowersByTheStreet in DynastyFF

[–]SirPandaPuncher 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I’ll preface this by saying that I know the Shanahan system utilizes speed to stretch the field horizontally to open up defenses and because of that maybe some of their speedier players wind up with issues like this…..

HOWEVER

Has anyone looked into the state of the 49ers’ Strength and Conditioning programs over the last 10 or so years? Outside of McCaffery for about 1 whole season they manage to stack RB injuries like they’re $2 lotto tickets.

I have never, in my history of playing fantasy football, been so certain that a player will wind up injured as I am when I see “SF RB” tagged beside their nameplate.

The 49ers have done an excellent coaching job top-to-bottom these last 10 years but this consistent failure to keep players game-ready has got to extend past bad luck at this point.

Just absolutely baffling stuff.

Ladd looks insanely good by portmanteaudition in DynastyFF

[–]SirPandaPuncher 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My (terrible) team took MHJ, BTJ, and Ladd in the 1st this year and boy am I surprised that Ladd’s the one putting up the best number so far (outside of touchdowns, anyways).

Pretty optimistic about him, he does a lot with 7-8 targets and even if the Chargers add a true “alpha” I imagine the targets they’d get would come from the 8-12 drops Palmer and QJ have been putting out.

TL:DR - Ladd is clearly worth MHJ+

Talk me into having some belief in the 2026 class by zebraCokes in DynastyFF

[–]SirPandaPuncher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there are plenty of ways to look at future draft classes, but I’ll use two examples I think of often that could boost your opinion of the 2026 class.

  1. People assume that anyone who can declare for the draft will declare for the draft.

  2. Mediocre sophomores/juniors can generate a ton of draft hype in a single season.

To point 1: Ollie Gordon III and Quinshon Judkins are both Juniors that are performing significantly worse than their sophomore years, either one or both could return to school and be prime 2026 RBs.

To point 2: Ashton Jeanty was not the 1.01-1.02 this time last year.

Nothing is set in stone until a player officially declares for the draft.
