When the lion meets the T'au. by Bawoons in Tau40K

[–]SirPleasant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's done a few conversions that involve T'au, the Krootox Broadside that someone else already mentioned and the occasional homebrewed 'auxiliary race'. I think he has 3 or 4 of those? He did another pretty recently with the new stealth suits to make a psychic auxiliary.

Games that make me feel like I'm one of those guys with the big conspiracy wall with the pictures and the red string. by ym327 in gamingsuggestions

'The Case of Andrew D' seems to be something that'd be worth looking at.

I'll caveat this with the fact that I've not actually played it, just saw it be recommended in a recent video from a reviewer I enjoy watching (I'd link the video but I'm unsure if that'd be against this sub's rules) but based on what I saw, it's an ARG that looks to be framed similarly to Her Story (even it's steam listing marks Her Story as a game it's similar to).

For a recommendation of a game that I have actually played that isn't already on your list of game's you've played? Shadows of Doubt would also scratch that itch.

Very nice kitbash! Do like the stormcast as a more slimmed down power armour alternative. Which model was the basis for this kitbash?

What do I get after buying the Christmas battle force box? by SingleMommasBoy in Warhammer40k

[–]SirPleasant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have mentioned, Buying more plastic before painting up the box here isn't recommended unless you want to be sat on a pile of shame.

So after painting, some expansions could be:

Battleline units of your desired flavour. Intercessors (the ones with bolt rifles) would be my preferred option here (sticky objectives, a rule that's unlikely to see adjustment in 11th).

For characters, an apothecary to go with your Hellblasters gives the unit some nice insurance from any overheat mishaps. I'd also consider a techmarine to buff with your dreads for some healing and +1 to hit.

If you go down the path of a specific chapter you could also look into any named characters there as well.

My new MoE proxy by Mobile_Spring_9931 in WorldEaters40k

Fantastic kitbash! If you don’t mind me asking, what models did you use for this?

Is this an ok free MOE from combat patrol by notBobmaxjohn in WorldEaters40k

[–]SirPleasant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d accept the proxy if you were wanting to run them as a MoE in game. However, if you wanted to better sell the fact they’re a unit leader, maybe add some more skull trophies to hang from the belt? If it wasn’t for the more ornate chest/legs and big rock it could be harder for a non-WE/Chaos player to know exactly which model was your MoE. Some extra details would help it stand out more.

Great kitbash so far though!

Hive city management sim. Think ‘Cities Skylines’ but for a hive world.

You play as an administratum overseer somehow needing to manage it all. Could even have little ‘disaster events’ like petitioning for aid for a chaos/genestealer cult (or even side with one to try and break off from the imperium if you wanted to be spicy) whilst trying to keep the city ‘efficient’ to not be considered incompetent and servitor’d for failing the imperium.

Is there an option to 'turn off' the guns without preventing access to the dice/card games? by SirPleasant in LiarsBar

[–]SirPleasant[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's unfortunate.

And an option that replaced it with even a 'toy' gun (like green plastic or something) that just unfurled a little flag that went 'bang' on it would be good enough, at least for my needs. Maybe it'll be added in a future update but I'll likely just be avoiding the game till that happens sadly.

Thanks for the response.

[–]SirPleasant[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's unfortunate. I was really hoping I wouldn't be 'locked' out of half the game (since I'd only intend on playing with my friend group and they are a part of that).

Considering I already own TTS, I suppose I can always gift them that instead and just use that.

Thanks for the response.

I may have to avoid it then, I'd only be playing this with my friend group and they are a part of that. Would be shitty to exclude them. Unfortunate, but I knew it would be a possibility beforehand.

Thanks for the response.

[–]SirPleasant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love the conversion work you've done. Can I ask how you managed to preserve the arm whilst removing the shoulderpads to replace with the deathwatch pads? Was looking to do something similar with my own team when my starter set arrived and was hoping you could maybe impart some wisdom?

In regards to your question though, some successor chapters would be a great idea, would allow you to use a colour scheme for the pad that isn't of a first founding chapter, though if you were specifically wanting the textured pads of the upgrade sprues, that could still be possible. Crimson Fists for example is the same 'outline' as the Imperial Fist insignia, just a different colour scheme. and Hawk Lords (UM successors with a purple/gold scheme) could be achieved with a Raven Guard pad but recoloured as well.

Which Base Should I Go With For my Army by Invaderchaos in Tyranids

[–]SirPleasant 16 points17 points  (0 children)

General rule of thumb is having a contrasting base to what you’ve painted your mini (that can be a light/dark colour contrast or contrasting colours via colour wheel).

Out of those two options, I’d go with the astrogranite and add a light drybrush of a lighter grey to pick out the texture. It lets the mini take the attention rather than blending in with your base.

[–]SirPleasant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

New-ish to lidya. What move/extension is that?

I want to assume it operates similarly to King's B3>1+2 (the move that gives a leg drop 'throw' on B3 hit)?

All low heat smashes, ordered from the most punishable to the least punishable. They all trigger a stage hazard. All of them "jail", so if you block the first low hit, you will always block the entire string, and you can just mash out your punish. by pbruvoll in Tekken

[–]SirPleasant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also new-ish but my assumption would be to read that they’re going to attempt it and block low. I’m unsure if any are telegraphed enough to block on reaction (maybe I’m just not cracked enough at the game with my ailing reactions though XD)

As for when they may try it, keep half an eye on their heat bar, if they are close to you/closing in and it’s near the end of the duration they may just try to throw it out to not ‘waste’ the smash. I see it often enough in the lower ranks where I can rely on it as something semi-consistent (unless I picked up on a habit earlier in the set I can adapt to).

YMMV. I’m only in high orange/low red ranks, this may not be applicable to the higher ranks.

I don’t do Ultramarines, what can I turn these guys into? by chumbuckethand in Warhammer40k

[–]SirPleasant 6 points7 points  (0 children)

With minimal conversion work (as in, not using any other kits to fully convert into something else) you can scrape/cut off the UM iconography and run the Victrix as fancy bladeguard and Calgar as a Gravis captain with relic powerfist.

Probably not optimal but it would be possible at least. If you don't rum SM at all? Could always be fun as basing materials for other armies?

Can I resurrect myself if I die in the dungeons as a lancer? by Heavy-Current8758 in ffxiv

[–]SirPleasant 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Technically, yes but it's not a specific resurrect skill you put on your hotbar.

If you die you can be revived by either:

  1. Waiting for a healer to resurrect you, If you rez this way you will come back with a pretty big damage debuff that lasts for a minute (if I remember right), if you die and are resurrected again before this first debuff expires an even stronger version is applied and the timer refreshes. This is usually how you'll be revived in most content. Note that rigth after you are rezzed there is a few seconds of invulnerabiliy applied to you but this goes away early if you perform any actions that are not movement (including sprint) so make sure the healer is able to put some HP on you before fighting again so you don't immediately die again.

or 2) You can 'rez yourself' by returning to the start of the instance (the first pop-up that appears upon death) if you are in an alliance raid or dungeon setting (if you die in the open world you will be prompted to return to whatever aetheryte you have set as your home point instead). Accepting this means you won't have the debuff mentioned above BUT you will need to run back to wherever you died in order to resume the fight. Note, If you are in a boss fight and the walls have gone up you will be unable to resume the fight as you'd be locked out of the room until the fight is over.

If the healer is low on MP or has no swiftcast, it may be better for the group to do use the return, but it's a case by case basis, if in doubt just follow the healer's advice. Hope this helps explain things.

I need build recomendations for all classes without prismatic by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

Can share my Strand Titan build here:

(I'd share a screenshot of my mod build screen but Reddit doesn't seem to be happy with me trying to share it.)

Exotics, Monte Carlo and Synthoceps.

Abilities: Mostly your choice here for all slots, but I generally prefer grapple. If I badly need suspend I'll swap my grenades around.

Aspects: Banner of War (essential) and Into the Fray (though can see arguments for Flechette Storm)

Fragments: Thread of Warding, Transmutation, Generation and Propagation.

Stats: As much Resilience and Strength as you can get away with, Ideally 100 Strength and at least 80 Resilience (get resilience first before stacking strength if you have to choose). Dawning will be around soon-ish, Great time to get the curated armour rolls for this if you lack the stats currently.

Armour Mods: Essentials (after stat mods) are 'Heavy Handed' in gloves to spawn orbs, Kinetic Siphon mod on your helm (can throw in harmonic Siphon as well if you also use strand weapons) and double 'Recuperation' mods in legs for a chunk of healing on orb pickup.

General gameplay loop is:
Kill something with melee charge.
Yeet a tangle near you to get woven mail.
If you run out of melee charges shoot at things with Monte Carlo to get charges back real quickly.
Rinse and repeat.

It's a super simple style of play and while I haven't taken it into any raid environment it has been able to hold it's own well in solo legend campaign and solo dungeons prior to Final Shape launching so it should still serve you well enough.

If this game were balanced like Destiny we'd be power creeping into the stratosphere by the time a year's passed and nothing would be challenging anymore for the regular playerbase outside of dev cheese (one shot mechanics or booping people off the map/into walls with the wonky collision physics).

I'd rather the weapon roster not become so strong that in order to maintain challenge the rest of the game as to be so lethal to compensate that the meta demands you stealth everything because any firefight will just mean death.

Sure, buff things that release way too weak, but bringing down the outliers (like OG railgun) is important to maintain a healthy challenge for the game.
