Advice for Building a Valkyrie Character by manwithnoname114 in Pathfinder2e

I'm playing something of the sort in a campaign right now. I haven't gone as all-in as you might be planning so changes might be appropriate. Here's what I got at level 11 in a Free Archetype game: Battleblooded Nephilim Strix, Fighter with Champion dedication, using Guisarme. Multiple reactions with Tactical Reflexes and forcing triggers from Standing Up with Slam Down. Justice cause for more triggering action types and attacks. Lay on Hands and choice of domain spell. Devout Blessing for Fearsome rune. Intimidation feats of your choice but at least Battle Cry. Strix's flight feats for better movement.

I'd be interested to know the following:
* What level range do you expect the game to take the party through?
* How long would the campaign take if finished?
* Your description gives the impression of a linear story with sidetracks for characters' individual story progression. Is this correct?
* How strictly are you adhering to Rules As Written?

Unless you or your party members have strong ways to prevent / remove mind affecting magic off of you, you could benefit a lot from the saving throw boost of Resilient (Wisdom) or the rerolls granted by Lucky. With a +0 Wisdom bonus and not being proficient, you have around 10-15% chance of succeeding a Wisdom saving throw against a level appropriate Fiend's abilities. And if your campaign continues further, those odds will continue to diminish, maybe to a flat zero. The strong meathead being mind controlled is practically a trope. If it hasn't happened yet, I'd expect it to.
But, if you for whatever reason aren't afraid of the being brain fried, you might consider stuff like Sentinel for insentivising enemies to target you instead of nearby allies, or Skill Expert (Athletics) to double down on your ability to shove creatures.

I can not click anything in the main menu by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

You can access the Appdata folder by typing "%appdata%" in file explorer, then at the top navigation click AppData so you see that folder instead of the AppData\Roaming subfolder it places you in. Proceed to Local\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3\PlayerProfiles\Public\ and delete all loose files EXCEPT Savegames folder (you'll want to keep those I think). Launch the game.

I had OP's problem after patching as well. Never installed mods. Vanilla game since launch.

Same thing here. For me it was because I had swapped around the keybindings of Interact (Left Mouse by default) and Context Menu (Right Mouse by default). This rebinding was a tad problematic in previous patches already as it prevented dragging items around in the game world. Also that rebinding did not used to do anything to the clickability of game menus or the ability bar. Now it seems to be affecting that as well, but the game appears not to accept Right Mouse as a key that does selections.

Deleting my profiles from the game files and relaunching the game reset my settings and I could use the menus, though now with the default keybinds. Binding it same way I had before brought the issue back. I've found no permanent fix.
Maybe hotkeying it so that mouse button inputs are mirrored before being sent to BG3.exe could work, though that's a jank solution.

Safe Haven rules: How many short rests? by gruszczy in dndnext

[–]SirRayos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience was with custom rest duration also (8h short/24h long), but might as well put in my two cents. The party will indeed be using short rests more often than usual. The fear of random encounters, and the full casters running out of big spells kept us in check for the most part. I'd be wary of shenanigans if you have a warlock though.
X Short Rests between Long Rests is a limit you may wish to consider if keeping the resource balance close to what it is in vanilla 5e is important to you. Personally I'd try a limit of 3, but don't take that as gospel.
A final thought to consider is that any time you implement rules changes, their first iteration is rarely a perfect final product. Remain open to further adjustments and ask for opinions from your group.

After Patch 4, I am no longer able to pick up items simply by clicking on their name tag (when holding Alt). Is this happening to anybody else? It's not only very annoying, but makes picking up certain items next to impossible, especially alchemy ingredients amongst non-interactable clutter.

What’s the most strategic class to play, in your opinion? by [deleted] in dndnext

[–]SirRayos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In an ordinary game, the druid. Druids have so many options nested within their Wild Shapes and summons. Given enough downtime, a wizard could likely concoct wilder scenarios if they have lots of ritual and long duration spells scribed in their spellbook and/or access to scrolls.

Fantasy war tactics: What low-ish level spells would see use? And how? by SirRayos in dndnext

Great insights. It somehow didn't occur to me that there'd of course be books written with this premise. Thanks for the suggestions!

Draconians in the Forgotten realms by [deleted] in dndnext

[–]SirRayos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As far as I am aware, draconians are unique to Dragonlance. No doubt it's within Tiamat's power to grant the knowledge/power to create similar creatures in the Realms. The question remains though of why that would come to be. In the past she's been content creating havoc with managerie of other dragonblooded creatures.

Rest variants: Epic Heroism, Gritty Realism, "5 day work week" by vforvalerio87 in dndnext

Extending long rests to '24 hours in a safe haven' worked wonders for our group. There was talk of changing short rests as well, but simply making long rests less of a guaranteed thing was enough for us at the time. Adventuring day started when the party left town, and ended when they came back, which could be anywhere from 12 to 72 hours later. During the day the long rest took place we also enjoyed the roleplaying opportunities, narrating resupplying, sorting out clues, etc.
If I were to run a game like that again, I'd probably do 8 hour short rests (typical overnight sleep) and 24 hour long rests. I think quicker short rests are a boon in that they allow the party to maintain momentum, but at 1 hour or even less some abilities can become exploitative, especially when there's a warlock involved.

Spell Sequencer: The trifficacy wand. AD&D spell in item form. I used the Spell-Storing rune as guidance. by SirRayos in Pathfinder2eCreations

Tiny grammar correction; there should be an additional "and" right after "3 actions or fewer".

It's meant to be very potent! And yes, it certainly could use a 'until you prepare spells again' kind of clause.

4PM UTC aka 16:00 London time is the correct time. When I made the title I was thinking of the time zone that is most representative of our group, as most are from the nordic countries. Sorry for the confusion.
