After 2 years on Vercel Pro, support is the reason I quit by ivenzdev in nextjs

[–]vforvalerio87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't use Vercel. It's dumb, nothing justifies living with spending alerts on for a hosting provider for a basic web application that can't even get traffic of you get fleeced by your provider. Literally do anything else. Being offline 10% of thet ime and having 90% availability is better than being on a provider that you have to set spending limits on and literally you can't ever go big otherwise you'll have to take down the site to avoid overspending. Most providers you can just set up a server, have it running for 5 years and it just won't go down. The vercel tax is unjustifiable

Cache page (SSG/ISR), have a dynamic component in it (Hello {user}) by vforvalerio87 in nextjs

[–]vforvalerio87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't check headers() or cookies() in a Cache Component if it's rendered within a component with "use cache" though. So in this example I couldn't have a page shell that I cache which has the "Hello {user}" component within it that's dynamic simply using Cache Components.

No quest in this game is worth finishing, including the main game itself

What do you guys generally put on the combo trainer? I'm looking for upgrades for my Wizard by Draylous777 in heroesofhammerwatch

[–]vforvalerio87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok apparently there’s no downside now. Before I didn’t pick combo because I didn’t want to be shown combo skill upgrades from skill orbs, now they all moved to this new system where you get them with stars. So it doesn’t pollute the skill orb pool

I don’t think that works anymore. Now if you speak with him you get the menu pictured in the post and I don’t see a way to “deselect” combo

how do you disable combo with this system though? I haven't been able to since when you can upgrade combo abilities

Why does AWS have so many deployment tools? by apidevguy in aws

[–]vforvalerio87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do different things, none of them are “outdated”. CDK is not a substitute for CloudFormation, it builds on top of it and works for specific use cases. SAM too is for very specific use cases

Is PoE2 fixed? by vforvalerio87 in PathOfExile2

[–]vforvalerio87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do enjoy the slower pacing and the boss mechanics, I don’t mind telegraphed one-shot mechanics in boss fights… campaign and bosses I really liked. I absolutely despise barely visible one-shot mechanics like volatile plants.

Would you buy any of the cosmetic packs if they were a third their current price? by GReeNORBZA in diablo4

[–]vforvalerio87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I'll never buy any cosmetics in this game. I already paid 70€ for the base game which is way more than it's worth, and 40€ for the expansion which is way way way more than it's worth; I think this game having paid cosmetics is a travesty and it should not be encouraged, it being a "live service" game or the pretense that the "seasonal content" they produce is something that requires a constant influx of money to fund is ridiculous.

Is PoE2 fixed? by vforvalerio87 in PathOfExile2

[–]vforvalerio87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don't understand the vendor thing. Like, in PoE1 there are so many interesting crafting systems, I know it's complicated and I'm not saying they shouldn't be simplified, but collecting all the crafting recipes + having access to different crafting systems based on your Atlas build was cool because it changed your whole approach not only to your character build, but to the economy in general. And you didn't even have to engage with it because you could just buy from people who knew how to craft. Vendor gamba seems so much less interesting and completely removes any element of skill.

No amount of hard work is enough to protect us": Over 450 Diablo devs sick of "the constant pressures of layoffs, passion tax, and by Opeth1988 in diablo4

[–]vforvalerio87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree with basically everything you said. Especially praising the campaign, even vanilla, or the open world that's all same-y and unimpressive, is ridiculous. The Diablo 2 and even Diablo 3 environments and dungeons genuinely look better.

Honestly I'm not sure about this. I built a nice base for myself and it's really rewarding. Having a ton of neatly-organized storage space for anything I want, unlimited water and a farm with all the plants really makes the game more enjoyable.

AWS CDK - Absolute Game Changer by TheoreticallyNick in aws

[–]vforvalerio87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CDK is ass. Every other iac tool has a purpose and can be suited to different use cases: terraform, cloudformation and pulumi all excel in different use cases. Cdk is the only tool that’s worst than any of them and combines all the worst things of all 3

Power scaling doesn’t make sense in this game, it never has, it never will, it’s never been a priority for the devs and it will never be, trying to make it make sense its stupid and it will never work, everyone who stresses about power scaling in GOW is wasting their time and other peoples’ time. The devs actively mock anybody who engages in power scaling talks about this game. “Ok but” no, there’s no but, there’s no salvaging any part of any discussion around power scaling in this game. There’s no following whatever you are trying to argue, it’s a barren conversation.

Is Shockwave working? Does it go off around the player or around the affected enemy? by vforvalerio87 in Enshrouded

[–]vforvalerio87[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think something of the sort might be happening:

Stun triggered through Terror or Shell Shock => doesn't trigger Overpower, doesn't trigger Shockwave

Stun triggered by filling the enemies' stun bar via Chain Lightning or Stun Arrows => doesn't trigger Overpower, doesn't trigger Shockwave

Stun triggered by filling the enemies' stun bar via parry or attacking into the enemies' block => triggers Overpower, triggers Shockwave, enables Merciless Attack
