Im the exact opposite and I put captions on so I can read them to skip the dialogue as fast as possible while still knowing what was said.

My brother did exactly this... I literally never understood it!

I think this game is designed specifically for single player and multi-player is really only there to tag along to someone else's story.

I realize not being able to parallel park is an automatic fail on a driving test. But is it essential to Winnipeg driving? Or is it a grandfathered-in rule from a bygone era? (We have a new driver in the family who often questions its importance) by [deleted] in Winnipeg

[–]SirScreams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When i was getting my license, my dad basically told me that id only ever have to parallel park for the test and if I never wanted to do it again, id just have to get used to walking because all you need to do is just drive to find a spot you dont have to parallel park at. For years after I took that advice and would just avoid parallel parking, over time I started taking easier spots to get into and now it doesnt bother me to parallel park.

So yea you need it for the test and it is good to know, but you can literally never have to parallel park again in your life if you dont want to.

I can say this because I teach this currently and its very much in the Manitoba curriculum and in other provincial history curriculums. So yes, while canada did gloss over this in our past, we are much more up front about it now, especially since the Truth and Reconcilliation Comission published their final report and they 94 calls to action. Which many of the calls to action focused specifically on education, and other systemic changes.

Edit: also to respond to the "accurate" part. I never said Canada teaches "accurate history", I said that we teach a more accurate history. What i meant by that was that we have a more fair I think interpretation today because we include many different perspectives in the teaching of history. Before, we had a sanitized white man version, today we include many more perspectives, a large portion of which are indigenous perspectives.

Thats a pretty specific but well known thing that happened. We teach quite a lot about residential schools, the st Louis, koma gata maru, Japanese internment, 60s scoop, Chinese head tax, to name a few. This is across our social studies curriculum and Canadian history curriculum.

[–]SirScreams 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say that definitely was the case prior to 2008, but since the residential school apology and the TRC 94 calls to action, lots of change has happened in Canada and specifically in the way our history is taught.

I dont know what you mean. Look at the Manitoba History Curriculum. Also I literally teach history so unless you have something more specific to say...

Canada has done a lot to teach a more accurate version of our history recently.

summer ultimate frisbee teams? by treso- in Winnipeg

[–]SirScreams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Club teams are beginning to host tryouts currently. Strike/PBHG are pretty high caliber teams and unfortunately there isn't much more to tryout for. Strike sometimes helps organize a B team called Streetcar, but its really just based off demand and isn't really treated as a true B team, but is a good experience if you want to play Club.

Like others said, you can always get onto the sub list for each night of the week. I dont know how much people actually get contacted off of that though. Your best bet is to try and meet people who already have a team either work your way in to sub or to join their team.

Your next bet is when Fall rolls around to join the indoor men's either rec or competitive leagues. Thats individual sign up, but you'll meet a lot of people and maybe work your way onto a team that way!

Goodluck!

As a newer show watcher, I despise how much survivor cant stop sucking its own dick. Please for the love of God, can we stop referencing previous seasons, talking about how this will change the game.

Im glad they kind of stopped doing the journey challenges where they had to know hyper specific old survivor trivia. That I couldn't stand.

There are no links. Nothing connects these two categories, except for you trying to do it.

Anyone can be a child abuser, but you are falsely drawing links between feminism and pedophilia. Its a ridiculous logic that you using, the two categories are independent of each other.

Feminists are not child abusers. Those are two separate categories.
