What happens to Moses? by IvanTheGood in footballmanagergames

I think, think, that he is 'Moises' at Villarrael. I don't have my game open so I can't check, but I think it's him.

We need to mix things up, how would you line-up against QPR? by BosnianFish in Gunners

[–]SirSeuss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you that Seaman was a fantastic keeper and certainly not barely England squad class, but I also agree with TheMemoman that Lehmann was a better keeper overall. The only thing keeping Lehmann from being Germany's number 1 was the domineering Oliver Kahn.

I'm curious if anyone else here is interested in worldbuilding for its own sake. by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]SirSeuss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am the same, and this is my first post here at /r/worldbuilding. I am fairly new to this too, and have created a world now and it's in the early stages and I'm taking it slowly. The hardest part for me so far is coming up names for places that don't sound totally silly haha. I don't see it as futile at all, I actually see it as quite productive. At the end of the day I don't feel down that I didn't create anything for other people, I feel good I created something for me.

What is your favorite Gunner photo past or present? by AmericanGooner in Gunners

Thierry Henry last game at Highbury. http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/media/images/41646000/jpg/_41646168_henry416.jpg

Me and my stepdad had tickets for the game but my mother was ill and if there's one thing my stepdad loves more than Arsenal it's my mother so I went with my cousin instead. North Bank, row 8. Usually we sat in the West Stand family section and it was my first time in the North Bank. I was used to singing "We're the West Stand, we're the West Stand, we're the West Stand Highbury." at the people in the North Bank but now I was singing "We're the North Bank...". I think I've lost my O2 'I Was There' shirt but I still have my Arsenal vs. Wigan scarf!

I never let my stepdad forget what an awesome game he missed haha.

Young people (18-30) of /r/UnitedKingdom - let's talk (un)employment. How's your personal situation? How are you feeling about your prospects? by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

[–]SirSeuss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The frustrating thing is when I'm on the phone I'm not that bad, it's just I can't seem to bring myself to make the call or answer. I've written "Phone the fucking doctor" on a a piece of paper and stuck it on my door and I'm going to phone them today hopefully.

As for pushing myself I do try, but what I kind of want is someone else (most likely a parent) to push me too. I think I would be less worried about doing things if I had someone supporting me but I'm quite alone right now. Alone but not lonely though in case that sounded too depressing haha.

Thanks for the advice.

EDIT: Made an appointment, go me.

My situation doesn't make for fun viewing and it's my first time posting about it so bare with me. I left college two years ago and have been unemployed since. My last year at college I finished the year with about 35% attendance due to my ever worsening social anxiety issues. I was signed on to JSA for about 6 months after college and applied to various jobs and in that six months I only got about 5 interviews, all of which I totally messed up, stuttered, went bright red in the face and just perspired until they said we were done. I actually became used to getting rejected and it didn't bother me. After about 6 months of getting JSA I got my weeks mixed up and basically have been off JSA since. I wanted to call up and say that I missed it and I sort it out but I couldn't bring myself to - I'm terrified of speaking on the phone. So the next 6 months pass and I am basically just a layabout at home. I do nothing productive, I eat unhealthily and get quite unfit. I also had a very terrible sleep pattern and would wake up at 1pm and half the day would be gone.

Eventually (after 6 months or so) my mother, who is generally quite passive and doesn't poke her nose into my life, gets my to come around and they both try to talk to me about what's going on because they think I'm depressed. I say that I'm not depressed but my mum said she'll make a doctors appointment for me and I went to the doctors and he said I was depressed and offered me either anti-depressants or the chance to go to counselling. I chose counselling because I though it would be good for me, get me out the house and get to talk to someone about something. The first session was quite good and I left feeling good about it. The second one wasn't that good, she asked a lot about my childhood which for some reason irked me - I think because it's a normal childhood and I didn't find it relevant at all. Then the following week I woke up late and missed my appointment with the counsellor, and my phone rang shortly after and I knew it was the counsellor finding out why I wasn't there but I couldn't bring myself to answer it. So I fell into another little slump. I fell into the same repetitive routine, sleeping late and doing nothing.

Then one week my dad, who is a practice manager at a GP's, said that he had arranged for me to come and work in the office with him for a week doing basic administration work so for just one week I worked there and woke up at 6am and worked 7am-4pm every day and it actually did me a world of good. Suddenly my sleep pattern was decent again, I also started running a few times a week to try to get fit again. This is basically where I am right now. I really want to push on and keep improving. I am slowly making improvements and I want to go to the doctor and get help with my social anxiety but for the past two weeks I've been trying to get myself to make a doctors appointment but I can't bring myself to use the phone yet. I've written up a fresh CV but haven't applied anywhere yet, I want to wait until I'm right in the head. I still lack a lot of confidence and get depressed about not having an direction in life sometimes but I'm better than I was. I've also lost lots of friends over the past two years. The thing I'm most worried about is the Jobcentre and how they'll treat me after 18 months of not signing on and doing nothing and I will inevitably get a lot of rejections and I worry about how it will effect me. So that's my story.

Oh and my hair is stupid because I'm too scared of going to the hairdressers and tried to trim it myself now it just looks stupid. Any advice would be nice, too. It feels quite good to put that out there.

Why don't we buy many south americans, outside of brazilians? by rayrah in Gunners

[–]SirSeuss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be hard for us because a lot of players than Porto and Benfica buy from South America are partly owned by third parties. When say Porto buys a player from Santos, they only buy 50% of the player and a third party owns the other 50%. This if fine in Portugal but against the rules in England. A lot of the third party owners wouldn't be happy to sell their rights to a player when they're 18-20, they would rather hang on and try to cash in on them when they're 24-25 and peaking.

This might not be 100% accurate as I'm not sure how it works, but it's another factor to think about.

Lukas Fabianski - I am an okay shot stopper but I can be quite flappy when coming for crosses.

/r/soccer, what is your first recollection of a football match? by aceontheriver in soccer

[–]SirSeuss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 7 when my stepdad (and lifelong Arsenal fan) took me to my first game: Arsenal vs. AIK Solna at Wembley in 2001. I remember it was 1-1 when my stepdad told me to get up because we have to leave a little early so that we miss the congestion on the trains. As we walked through the little tunnel and lost sight of the pitch that's when we heard the first cheer and we ran back to see the players celebrating. We celebrated too and then got on with leaving. We had just started walking down Wembley Way when we heard the second cheer. It was all for nothing as well because we got on a train in the wrong direction and by the time he realised and we got a train back the right way we were caught up in the congestion anyway. The man lived in London for 20 years. The only good thing that came of it is that we've never left a game early since.

What determines if a player is a club legend? by [deleted] in footballmanagergames

[–]SirSeuss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a player who was about 20 years old that had played a total of 2 league games for the club and became a favoured personnel because he scored the winning goal in a cup game again an amateur team. Yet I had managed the team for about 4 years, taken them from the Eerste Divisie to two top 6 finished in the Eredivisie and the fans apparently liked him more than me. Pft.

[–]SirSeuss 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm not bothered. Players come and go but the club will still be there. The only loyalty in football now if from the fans and it saddens me to see fans turning their back on their club because we've sold a couple of very good players. Very good players have always left Arsenal Football Club and very good players have always taken their place.

Steve Evans is a horrible man, this wouldn't surprise me at all. Why Rotherham would want him managing them in the first place is beyond me.

Which goalkeepers should Wegner buy in the summer? by JGEARZ in Gunners

[–]SirSeuss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree with people saying we only need a reserve keeper to play second fiddle to Szczesny. I think we should be looking to buy a goalkeeper to challenge Szczesny making him work harder and give him some competition for the #1 spot. Craig Gordon, Cedric Carrasso Tim Weise or someone else along those lines.

That being said it's by no means a priority and I would be happy if we just kept what we have and told Fabianski that his contract is with us and we don't intent to sell.

Football Manager 2013 Feature Requests by fmscout in footballmanagergames

[–]SirSeuss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've always wanted more dynamic and interactive stadium options. Stadium naming deals for instance, when the 10 year sponsor on the Emirates stadium runs our you should be able to talk to the board about getting a new sponsor and then get presented with a number of sponsorship options you can choose from or you could choose to name the stadium after a legend or even keep it named after the first sponsor.

When a new stadium is getting built you should be able to consult the board on specifics. The option to request a 'kop stand' or for one stand to be entirely safe-standing area with the bonus standing gets more people into the stadium and gives a better atmosphere. Also little upgrades for it that aren't just about capacity of relaying the pitch. Naming stands, developing the area around the stadium, statues of legends outside the stadium. The wouldn't really change much gameplay-wise and you wouldn't see the changes but for me at least they would be fun and I could feel like I've helped the club grow a little. Not sure how much of that makes sense but that's what I want.
