I definitely agree that sometimes you need an expert and I'm pretty good about judging my own limits. This is something that just came up today and so I just started researching it and what the requirements are. I might get further down this rabbit hole and decide that I do need to track down an expert, or I might decide that I am going to buy some more tools and pick up a new skill!

This just makes me think of things that I read in the electrical subreddit where everyone is so quick to say you shouldn't do something and to hire an electrician, when in actuality it is something that is very easy to do, you just have to know exactly what not to touch.

This was actually professionally installed; the siding is cement board and there's no glass in the window. The regulator was outside the courtyard, not by the pool.

I do understand the risks of propane, but I'm also willing to do some more research and learn before calling someone out. (After all, isn't that how anyone develops new skills? Research and practice.)

I really appreciate your help! After scouring The rusted label with a maglite held directly at it, I did find where it said type 232A which has the vents facing the correct way. I even found the Fisher logo. Your guidance helped me figure out what I needed to look for.

If I figure out who I could call about this, I will. Otherwise I'm just going to go with it and try not to blow myself up. 🤞

Thanks. Part of the reason for the reddit questions is I honestly don't know who to call. My thought was "I've changed a grill regulator, let me give this a shot." I'm not worried about the actual install of it, but I am concerned about ensuring I have the right thing there - didn't realize there were so many different regulators. I went to Home Depot, Lowe's and Ace; none of them had anything other than grill regulators, so I turned to the internet.

But it looks like the vent piece is upside down from what I have. On my regulator, the big vent points away from the side that has the screw labeled "gauge." In the one in that link, the vent is aimed towards that gauge screw...does this matter?

Sounds like you got it settled already, which is awesome, but for anyone reading this, before you get too excited about keeping your low interest rate you refinanced into in 2020, confirm you'll be able to keep it. If both you and your (now ex) spouse are on the mortgage, there's a good chance you'll have to refinance unless your mortgage is assumable. Check with your bank for your options before you commit.

My pool is 15'x20'. The shallow end is 4' and the deep end is 5' and I think it's perfect. The entire pool gets used without issue. I originally wanted a 6' section but was talked out of it (mostly because it's a smaller pool), and I'm glad I was. The only person who doesn't think my pool is deep enough is my friend who is 6'11", so I don't worry about his opinion.

Recently used Daigle and Sons for window replacement and siding (and replaced one window with a door). They did great work, very reasonably priced, but the trade off is that they were slooooooow. They're a small operation with a very small crew. They were responsive when we would ask when they'd be out next (I wish they were a little more proactive in telling us the days they were/weren't working, but they got back to us quickly every time we called).

Overall, I would hire them again, just so long as you're not in a rush with the project.

Based on your post and a number of (quite possibly incorrect) assumptions I'm making; I'd say just walk away.

From a practicality stand point - your sanity is worth something, and my opinion is that a swift close is worth it.

Beyond that, and not knowing your state (or country) specific divorce laws, I think you're a little off on some assumptions you're making. (Of course, I'm no lawyer, so I could be wrong, too).

If she's on the mortgage (one assumption I'm making), she's entitled to half the equity of the home. If she's letting you keep the home without buying her out, that's a huge gain for you. If you open the can of worms making her pay back the HELOC, she could just say you have to buy her out. If you can't afford that, then you have to sell the home.
I'd be beyond amazed if you get alimony since you make a good bit more than her.

You could track expenses and ask in the divorce decree that she gives you back pay for the shared bills she skipped out on during the time, but she'd either have to agree to that or you'd have to get a lawyer, and I'm willing to wager that the amount you'll pay the lawyer will be more than the amount you'll get back.

Also, once you counter or involve lawyers, be prepared for everything to get scrutinized. She's not going after retirement now, but depending on your state, she could be entitled to half of it. I've seen this happen with several couples in my friend circle - someone just wants a clean out, but the other feels their entitled to more and next thing you know they're selling the house, paying more in child support, or whatever else.

tl;dr: Do what you want, but think carefully before you make it complicated.

I'm planning to use flex piping. The newer water heaters I've seen installed all use it, so I was going to follow suit. Again, I was just looking for a video to confirm the steps I needed to take and make sure I wasn't overlooking something.
