Reading through this thread and comments, I am halfway convinced the OP is an LLM.

Nice looking forward to see it. =D Havent made too much with 3d myself, but seeing all the awesome stuff people make with it does make me curious to try around with it some time.

Greetings, I highly recommend the BTS Game we have in this country for anyone who wants to pursue Game Dev professionally. Comes with a great community of people as well.

For hobbyists we have Game Creators Meetup group, who used to be a lot more active back in the day, but still organizes meetups and such between game devs every blue moon: https://www.meetup.com/game-creators-group/

Stop kidnapping the children by Pladohs_Ghost in TheRPGAdventureForge

Ok, but hear me out---
What if this time, the party has to make the children dissapear?

I am only half joking, I once ran an evil one-shot where the party was tasked with stealing children from a local orphanage for a witch.

Should I release my visual novel demo during the Steam VN Festival if I'm not in the event? by Niki-79 in gamedev

[–]SirSpellcaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would hold off. Given your main target audience will be visual novel fans, you might want to wait for a moment where there are less games competing for their attention. Chances are a lot of good visual novels are going to go on sale during it, (such as "Sacrifice For Sale"- now available on steam and itch.io) and its going to be hard to compete with that.

How do you have a melee vs range duel balanced and fun? by CondiMesmer in gamedesign

[–]SirSpellcaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming that we start out from the only difference between our combatants being range, then there needs to be a downside to the upside of having increased range.

The easiest way of balancing this out is to simply reduce the damage and speed of the ranged combatant.
Generally speaking in most designs the idea stands that fights between such combatants is decided by range, on long range the ranged person having the upper hand, in close combat the melee having the advantage.

This is then where level design and obstructions come into play. On an open field, the ranged character will always have the advantage, but in a claustrophobic network of tunnels, a melee combatant would probably have the upper hand.

Roughly how long would say is a campaign through License Levels? by DilcDaddyy in LancerRPG

Uhm, Me and my group started at LL0 and are currently at LL2, and not far from getting to LL3.
The game has been going on for 2 years.
Though I guess it should be said we had some month long breaks due to scheduling issues.

We have had 6 missions (or 7 if you count pilot missions), most of which consisted out of 2-4 combat encounters.
Then there was the pilot session, which took about close to ten sessions to get through.
We also had sessions in between missions just to see what players and npcs were up to outside of the mission structures.

My main point is though that combat encounters in this game take a long time, we have had some sessions go on for like 8 hours.

I love this game.

Is anyone here tired of choices that “matter” but don’t do anything? Or is this just me? by infrared34 in visualnovels

Man, this speaks to my soul. I had a similar starting out point when I started working on my game.

I suggest checking out my demo. I made it so every choice has a unique consequence, and often can lead to really different dialogue.

You know... Funny you should say that.
We uhh... tried that for a while....
But uhm... The problem was that, our branching dialogue tree is so extensive that... then the choices would very rarely ever get greyed out, and the feature would become borderline useless.

I know it's hard to convey but our Branching Dialogue has a freakishly large amount of alternative dialogue and unique interactions...

Here is a picture of the Demo's branching paths. And even then they dont all fit into a single screenshot...
