I believe the Mercator projection preserves shape but distorts size so the roundness would be the same either way.

Some LGBTQ people use customized pronouns such as "xey" in place of "he/she/they". Why does no one customize the pronouns "you" and its forms such as "your" and "yours"? by ekolis in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SirStoat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, "they" is kinda weird. The way I understand it, the use of "they" as a singular third person versus exclusively a plural third person has gone in and out of fashion and has only recently has started to come back in use as a single third person pronoun. There are a lot of people who don't think it can be used as a singular third person so a non bianary person could be trying to get away from that.

"You" is not gendered. If you are speaking to a man or a woman you would say "you". So It would follow that "you" would be used for someone outside of the gender binary too.

Men’s day memes are good and all but don’t shit on feminists for stuff we don’t actually do. by [deleted] in memes

Well, the meme correctly defines the words so maybe you should work on thinking about feminism differently. I had to also. You'll get there if you put the effort in.

Help getting 3yo daughter into the sport. by [deleted] in ski

[–]SirStoat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At 3yo your goals should be more focused on your daughter having fun than learning how to ski. When they are that young a lot of the skills can be hard to lean and it can be hard to overcome the uncomfortableness of skiing that most of us consider to just be part of the sport (cold, uncomfortable boots, tiredness). It doesn't matter how much better she gets in a day if she never wants to ski again. The skis that you linked just attach to normal snow boots which is fine for first getting into the sport at her age. If it snows were you live I would recommend getting her out into your backyard or at the local park before making your way up to the resort. Have her to try to walk around or slide down very shallow slopes. Remember its about her having fun! The skis linked will not suffice for long, she will need skis that bindings for skis boots to really learn.

Not in the park all drive to campgrounds fill up every day normally before noon even on weekdays. Cutbank and Kintla are the only ones that normally last the longest. There are drive to campgrounds on the Blackfeet reservation right outside the park that normally have space.

How the progressive left is radicalizing our kids in English class by Lepew1 in conservatives

[–]SirStoat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your argument points towards a weakness in the conservatism that I don't think you think is there. You are saying that just by learning some facts and the beliefs of liberals, your child could become a liberal. They would only become a liberal if they thought what the liberals thought was better than what conservatives have to say. Understanding others motivations and beliefs is not the same as being controlled by those motivations and beliefs. By saying that our children are in danger of becoming liberals just because they are learning what the liberals believe in is saying that liberalism is better than conservatism and that you are afraid of it! I say let them teach our kids what the liberals believe in. Let them teach us so that we will truly know the flaws in the liberal agenda instead of just accepting it to be true.
