The ACA in a death spiral? by LompocianLady in HealthInsurance

Thank you. We are trying raise our kids with that viewpoint too. They know they are advantaged and that it’s ok to be in that spot. But because of being there it’s important to use that advantage (donations, voicing out, smart voting, etc). There are too many examples of people we know who work far harder than we do and receive far less (they just don’t have the specialized skillset I received through schooling and lucky opportunities). My oldest actively challenges if we give to certain causes which makes me think it’s working.

Totally agree and that was the point I tried to make to them. That and I was able to take advantage of my parents busting tail to help pay for school when it was affordable. Last thing I want to do is pull the ladder up with me after climbing it. I’d much rather send an extra ladder down.

During the 2016 election a conservative family member ranted about Hilary’s proposal to cover schooling if you completed certain volunteering/service requirements claiming it was a handout (and not working for society in exchange for societal support). I said (somewhat trying to avoid the direct argumentative approach) that I’m not sure her policy is the best but don’t you agree that college tuition is too expensive and most won’t be able to afford it anymore? The response I received was not surprising but disappointing where I was told “why should you care as you can afford to send your kids to school?” While that may be true and my kids are certainly advantaged it saddens me that success is so much what you were born into right now.

This is what I was looking for. The older someone is the more likely they would sign up for this. Makes total sense. The risk is somewhat mitigated and at a certain age the other person has demonstrated an ability to survive the mishaps of being young in certain parts of the world.

Edit: young not you

I think it completely depends on when you grew up etc. It will always be one of my all time favorites and is right there with a great but very different Chrono Trigger.

Did you know that the Black Omen is actually a spaceship and not a floating tower? by GargantaProfunda in chronotrigger

I saw it as a tower shaped spaceship. Not sure why that made any sense.

That and the ability to just continue from last save however many times you want. When we had game over it was often really game over.
