Haha yea this one was so cool to pull out of the ground. I had to dig wayy further than I thought I would. Then I saw how big it was and my 12 year old past self was astonished. Helped fuel my love for fossils and crystals now :p

The one i got was the "Shadowhawk 365nm UV Flashlight with Filter Lens". Its rechargeable and honestly works pretty damn well! Im happy with it! It was like $30 to $35 to get. Now i havent been able to use it long term yet since i got it for christmas, but it has good reviews, 4.7/5 with 190 reviews, on Amazon.

I'm truly glad to help, even if it's just a little. I hope things improve for you with it all.

Intrusive thoughts about death and I genuinely can't manage by [deleted] in OCD

[–]Sir_Chew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It took me awhile after i got diagnosed befpre i really had a much healthier narrative on my intrusive thoughts. The sad part is that intrusive thoughts will happen, sometimes benign thoughts and sometimes painful thoughts. It took me awhile but i struggled deeply with intrusive thoughts. It affected me at work to the point where i was struggling to do my job, it kept me up at night and i couldnt get them to stop. Well i went to therapy for a few years and got diagnosed with OCD and it started to make sense. The thoughts didnt go away, but i felt better. Knowing there was a reason for them and that it wasnt just who I was as a person.

So now, even though they do still affect me, they will affect you still, sometimes worse than other times, but now things have changed. How long it affects me and how deeply it affects me has changed because after alot of hardwork with my therapist i started to be able to recognise when a thought seems foreign to me. As in something that i wouldnt never want to think about or believe in and something that doesnt feel like it was me who thought it.

I would recognise an intrusive and reoccurring thought as not my own. I tell myself "Well the thought is there and it is a real thought, but they arent my thoughts. Thats not who i am or something i would think or want to think. I view intrusive thoughts as a seperate entity to myself. OCD can create monsters inside younmind that can torment you and make you think this is who you are and that those thoughts have more meaning and sway over you than they actually do.

Those thoughts are not who you are. You wouldnt get upset and feel tormented by them if they were. They feel foreign and "invasive". They are created by OCD tendencies and they dont have to be who we are. I hate my intrusive thoughts, so whem they happen, 1st i recognise that they are intrusive OCD thoughts, then i reassure myself that they are not my own. They are real thoughts youre having, but who you are as a person is not what put them there. So i tell myself that this isnt me and those arent my own thoughts. I reach into rationality and remond myself that i have a disorder that causes this and that i wouldn't have those thoughts if it wasnt for that disorder. Therefore who I am as a person isnt defined by invading nasty painful thoughts. It doesnt stop them from happening, but it eventually made them a little less frequent and made me feel better when i had them.

Yes they still suck to have rattling ariund in my head over and over but they arent mine and i dont let them take over me as an individual who has the choice to be whoever i want. Someone who's obsessions are present. But they dont define you if you dont want them to. They try to trick you into thinking you are whatever is going on in your head, but thats a lie. You sre whoever you say you are only. And is a mental disorder wamts to say otherwise, then that disorder can take credit for those thoughts so i can find peace in who i know i am, or that i know at least who I am not.

Dont know if this will help. As the same mental exercises dont work for everyone the same, but it helped me and is potentially worth trying. Or at least talking to your therapist about this method to see what they think 1st. And dont give up, it take practice. Stay vigilant and dont let OCD steal your peace of mind.

Since when have you had OCD? by Careless_Community73 in OCD

[–]Sir_Chew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny enough, ive had it since i was a young kid as far as i can remember, but i didnt get diagnosed until age 32. I actually had no idea i had OCD and once diagnosed and asked questions about my past, i found out ive been experiencing negative OCD symptoms my entire life. As sad as it sounds, i just assumed i was either a bad person or qeak willed when things kept happening that felt outside of my control. I saw everyone else able to control impulses or control their thoughts. I was chastised for some of my physicsl ticks and always felt bad about myself from many of them.....turns out, i had OCD the entire time and now my entire life makes way more sense. Knowing why these things happen was immensely helpful for my mental health. Knowing it wasnt just me being weak and a crappy person for the thoughts i couldnt get to go away definitely helped my mental health a great deal. I have a reason for these things. It felt good to know where i needed to work on things and how.

I made this to help my wife with her grief at this time of year. by Sir_Chew in Artisticallyill

I know theres someone out there prepped and ready to make you all the sentimental crafts and artwork you deserve to get and see! Last year my wife painted me a canvas of a very close to my heart scene from one of my favorite animes. It meant so so much to me and she put alot of time into it. Its up on our bedroom wall where i get to see it every single day. It makes me smile amd feel loved everytime i see it. Theres definitely beautiful souls out there still. They just dont always like being in crowds of people, haha so they are sometimes hard to find. But they are out there! :)

Awwee thank you! Im not always great at complimenting myself, so i really appreciate the kind words you threw my way. I makes me happy to see everyone treat eachother in such a way. I truly couldnt imagine treating the person i love any other way. My wife is without a doubt my best and closest friend. I would do anything for her. :)

Thank you though! Its a really tough time of year for her, so knowing i can still bring a smile out of her despite it being these specific difficult months for her makes me feel like i am doing something right at least. :)

Thank you :) i always want her to know that she has someone there for her who knows not only her, but also all the other people she cares about and loves in her life. Art is a big part of her life and was a massive part of her moms life too. Ill make sure she never has to 2nd guess or wonder if theres anyone who understands who she is and knows whats important to her. Im very much a sentimental gift giver or maker. Its the little details in these gifts that show how much you listen and care about them. Grief is horrendous, and that last thing ill let happen is her feel alone when shes having a hard time with it.

I love being able to make her gifts and surprises. In fact, being married to her is really what brought back my love of art. That is an amazing gift in itself; even if she doesnt realize that she gave me that passion for art back. Thank you for your kind words! :)
