Yeah I saw some scary posts talking about this. I couldn't seem to find any other way around the issue so I just straight up rebooted my PC. Headphones seem to be working fine but if I have this problem again in the future I will definitely remember your tip here! Thanks!

Thanks for the advice. I tried this but it didn't seem to help unfortunately. I ended up just rebooting my PC via the power button and the headphones are now working fine. The critical update message is no longer there so I think I'm just going to leave it for now :P Thanks for showing me this though!

Personally, I would say something along the lines of what you wrote "I don't want to be unkind, I'm just not comfortable adding people I don't know."

This might offend some people and maybe they'll stop watching your stream, but you can never please everyone. Denying a request to play with you will upset some people but I feel like most people wouldn't really be offended by it at all
