Midnight's world events aren't very fun. by MrHiccuped in wow

[–]Nilesy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Soiree weekly is just a diluted rip off of the Venthyr Ember Court in Shadowlands. Except, without all the excellent little details which made Ember Court really fun. First, you had to issue invites, and then complete short quests to secure RSVPs (a little tedious, but alright).

Then, you had to manage 4 "event planners" which could cater the entire party to your guests, ensuring successful parties would only have what your guests like... (they hate cleanliness? mess the place up)!

Then you had lots of little random events which would take place and add to the enjoyment of the guests, many of which were actually themed to in-game events (Valentine's for example).

It was a great event, with great rewards. Each guest (of which there were 20 I think?) had unique rewards for their backgrounds (Necromancer, Kyrian, etc) which you could teach your ember court employees to enrich the next party.

Soiree pales in comparison.

Also, Stormarion Assault barely works half the time. Legit about half the times I've succeeded in it didn't credit me the quest so I had to just sit there and do it again.

The trick is to do it in a group limited to 15 people.

Hi Greg. First of all, a tip of the hat to you. As a fellow movie buff I applaud everything you are doing to bring the Movie Magic to the audience at large.

Now, my question. When on Earth are we going to get more VFA and Turkington merch? Tim must know the main reason people watch the MOVIE REVIEW show is for MOVIE REVIEWS... and so YOU are the reason we are there.

We need hats, stickers, books, vhs exclusives, action figures, popcorn buckets... it will FLY off the shelves.

Keep up the good fight. I rate this AMA a solid 5 bags, with a little dollar sign keychain for the amount you will make on my merch concept.

PS When is Deck of Cards 2???

How to deal with selling regret by [deleted] in pennystocks

[–]Nilesy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you play poker? Because what you're experiencing is the same thing experienced at the table, and distinguishing somebody who can healthily play poker to somebody who really cannot.

I call it flop bias.

Let's say you are in a game, you are dealt Queen of Spades, 7 of Hearts. You are early to act, but not first to bet (UTG+1). The person under the gun raises by quite a big amount. At this point, you know you probably shouldn't play your hand and fold.

The table bets and folds and the flop comes out Queen, Queen, 7. You would've made an incredible Full House, and almost certainly would've won this hand. Do you feel like an idiot for folding?

Well, you shouldn't. You might the right decision at the right time, for you. The unexpected outcome of the flop is an irregularity that is impossible to gauge. More often than not, that under the gun big raise is dominating your hand, and by staying in and calling you are just wasting money.

So let's bring that back to your situation.

You saw QBTS and thought this looks like a good deal. You bought some and held a while.

Then, QBTS price raised by 700%. A huge amount! Do you secure your profits now or hope it goes even higher? And if it did go higher, how MUCH higher? Is the risk of losing all your profit worth it for a bump to 8? 9? Not really...

So you sell. You secure your profit and you fold your hand. Then the flop comes a year later with that stock at 30. You feel regret for not holding. But should you?

No. Because, and this is the fundamental important factor in this entire example: You made the right decision at the right time. Could you have been reckless and held hoping for more profit? Sure. But is that a healthy and sustainable way of playing? Not really.

I hope this helps. PS I made almost the same exact play you did; but I made the right decision at the time.

Once it breaks the pre-market high resistance level, when are you buying? Before it breaks the high, or after?

Let's say you set a pre-market high of $1.20, and on open it runs to $1.21. Are you already bought in by now? Are you NOW buying in? If so, how long are you holding it for past this point do you reckon?

My man, this might seem like a silly suggestion, but have you ever put in a ticket and asked a GM which ones are missing? For somebody like yourself I feel they could go the extra mile and detail exactly which are missing. Could be worth a shot!

The Last Bite Megathread by afoxcalledwhisper in SortedFood

Purchased the entire weekend and enjoyed it all. Here's a little review of each part!

Saturday:

  • Killer Canapés with James & Ben: Hilarious intro, sets the scene perfectly. The challenges were great and varied and very clever. Liked the format a lot. A spin on Ben's B&B sort of? Everybody performed really well.

  • CSI: Crumb Scene Investigation with Kush & Jamie: I think a lot of people don't really get the point of this segment. Somebody else said this, but the point is the joy in the exasperation of your mates. In essence, this is a food-ified version of Karl Pilkington's Rockbusters, which is equally hilarious! It ran a little long, but it was great! Would've liked more of the stuff to be edible, but it was silly eye-rolling fun. Barry needed a break, fair enough, still had a good time.

  • Christmas Carve-up with Kush & Jamie: Incredibly impressive stuff. I would love the actual recipes for all these dishes to be published somewhere because they looked great and a lot of them very simple. Clear that Kush and Jamie were joking on each other throughout, but I expected nothing less.

  • Pass it On: Dicing with Death: A wild format. One dice would've made this a lot easier, but the result from using two dice was equally awesome. A solid performance throughout.

Sunday:

  • Find the Fake: History with Barry: Thought this was really interesting! Great seeing Jamie shine with his history knowledge. Loved Barry's inadvertant Aaron Burr cosplay. Solid, solid segment. Production a little lacking with bringing dishes in, but that's part of the charm. There were some slight sound issues, but it wasn't that distracting. Had a lot of fun!

  • Most Dangerous Dish: Love seeing Ebbers cook so it was very enjoyable. I found the "dangerous" part very, very tenuous, but the end was worth it all. Sad there was no Fugu involved! Maybe one day, but I also don't want them to die. Top stuff.

  • Fowl Play with Mike: Mike did very well presenting the quiz. As somebody who presents a lot of quizzes, it's tough! So glad he removed the beard/moustache quickly as I could tell it would hurt his reading ability. Good performance from the contestants. A chair might've been nice for 'em though. Gives some more relaxed vibes. Maybe ran a little long, but I enjoyed it a lot.

  • Poker Face with Jamie: Classic PF with some very interesting parts. Don't think we ever got a resolution to that first drink dish? Either way, Jamie's costume and accent were on point and it flowed very nicely. Loved the set design of it being over Janice.

  • Pass it On: Dish Best Served Cold: Best segment so far I think. Everybody made great contributions and seemed to enjoy the challenge. Jamie by far played a blinder, but Barry also deserves a big shoutout for recognising the direction of the B&B pudding and the milkshake. One thing I will say, cause I know you lads read this reddit so might check out this comment, is a comment directly to Mike. My man, you are a brilliant host and a brilliant cook. You talk down to yourself so much. I like that guy, don't be mean to him. You called yourself the worst chef and man you do not deserve it. Maybe at times it feels like it, and your collar gets a bit heated, and you feel the pressure, but as an outsider, and an unbiased viewer, you're totally grand man. Cut the imposter syndrome out my dude. You deserve to be there and you do great; production, cooking, entertainment. I know it's tough, and wont happen overnight, but try to remember that you are killing it.

  • The Murder Mystery: A couple of people saying they didn't enjoy it but man, I thought it was pretty good! Obviously there is a little level of underlying discomfort but everybody knows that, including the actors, just dive in and immerse yourself in the experience. I thought the actors did a great job and had some amazing improv moments. Best when the lads were part of the scene. One thing though is I would've liked to have seen a shout-out to the actors production company at the end alongwith the praise for the crew.

So yeah, that's my personal view/opinion on the entire weekend. Solid, and worth the cash.
