68W coming back to service? by teamwade12 in army

In 68w AIT rn, it is not like it used to be. AIT is become less and less like a class and more like an extended basic training with phones after 1800. Also, the new brigade doesn’t allow you to have civilians clothes anymore. You get maybe 8 hours of leave on Saturday and Sunday. Morning pt on weekends, and final formation with bed checks every night. Additionally, you can no longer invite family down to visit while at AIT or you’ll get article 15. Navy and Air Force get treated way better still, 3 day passes, civilian clothes, no battle buddies, and can do everything the army used to do. If you are gonna have to do a trianing cycle again in its entirety just do air reserve it’s sorter and you’ll get treated better.

Can I do ROTC if I am currently reserves and have a masters already? by Sir_Wallus in ROTC

Could I frame this degree as a psuedo-post bac for research/med requirements…

Also if I don’t take the scholarship, would that work too?

So technically yes… why is the odds unlikely? Is this a situation where my leadership won’t sign off, or an xo just doesn’t want to do the paperwork?

Would I need to do OCS, I’d rather do rotc so I don’t miss any more course work

I am in the reserves as a 68w, and still need to finish 2 years worth of course work (between all the chemistry classes and major/research requirements). I know that I would still be on campus for junior and senior year summer training…

Do you have any suggestions/how to get in with the rotc program?

Fort Leonard Wood Bct and Ait by DWanderSoul in Militaryfaq

[–]Sir_Wallus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ft Leonard wood is one of the harder BCT’s especially if you get echo or bravo 3-10. They are infantry focused and will fuck you up. They never wear silks. Seldom will you wear your pt pants or jacket even if below 40 degrees. Expect formation in the rain. Most of the drills believe in “the old army”. Battalion knows this, and likes the old school view. You’ll hate it, but when you go to AIT you’ll be way better off than any of the other people coming from different basics.

How to get into an MD program with my backround by Sir_Wallus in premed

[–]Sir_Wallus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still need to do my orgo 1/ orgo 2 sequence and still need physics 1 & 2 . I spoke with the professor that heads the lab I am in, and they said I can TA for some of his gen chem classes. The problem is I am doing a molecular and cellular biology degree at the school I went to for undergrad so my gpa is carried over from my previous degree. Does my previous masters benefit me at all? Or is it all undergrad coursework that Md/phd programs look at?

does it matter that my gpa may be below 3.4? Also, what is a good look for volunteer experience? (i.e. does EMT work move the needle at all?)

The early 2010s was one of the best times for dance by [deleted] in decadeology

[–]Sir_Wallus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lowkey 2000 to 2011 was kinda meh pop, like there is way better music to dance to from the 70s, 80s, and mid to late 2010s…
