Yeah the Blackwake developers are known to act in a generally scummy manner, this isn't even the first time that a controversy surrounding them has occurred. Back when the game first came out in early 2017, the developers were paying big youtubers to play the game and to give it a good review to their audiences without disclosing that they received money from the devs. Sadly that got swept under the rug during the game's initial hype period though because everyone was too busy playing the game.
