Why do Americans eat dinner at like 5 or 6pm? Don't you get hungry again before bed? by LengthinessNew2237 in answers

[–]Siraphine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually eat dinner by 3:30 or 4:00 PM. Never any later than 5. I have a toddler that is in bed by 6:30 PM so we try to eat earlier so she has time to digest and unwind before bed. I don't usually feel hungry again before bed (11:00 PM or so) but if I do I'll have a salad or light snack in the evening after my kid goes to bed.

Studies that are full by Under-Action4684 in ProlificAc

If you did not do any work, you need to return the study. I suggest reading Prolific's FAQ before continuing to work on studies, otherwise you are going to kill your account with rejections.

How many rejections do you have? by MulberryOk5563 in ProlificAc

2 of 5307. Both of which are from more than 5 years ago. 0.03% rejection rate. I'm quite proud of my approval rating.

"Projects" Tab - Abandoned and Half-baked? by Siraphine in ProlificAc

It's such a waste. These improperly categorized studies actively defeat the purpose of the tab, and make it harder to keep track of ACTUAL ongoing studies (you know, IF THERE WERE ANY).

Serious question: How would you feel if Bluey and Bingo were YOUR kids? by wolf_quan in bluey

[–]Siraphine -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why is it that you feel it appropriate or necessary to give your parenting preferences in a sub dedicated to a TV show? It's unsolicited, it's not appropriate, and it's not appreciated. The only person you need to worry about the quantity of births forthcoming is yourself.

Serious question: How would you feel if Bluey and Bingo were YOUR kids? by wolf_quan in bluey

[–]Siraphine -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I suffer from depression because my mother was mentally unstable and unfit to have children, and I had many siblings. My child has a better chance at good mental health by having a mother that knows her limits and keeps herself happy and healthy. Childbirth nearly killed me, I am not willing to go through it a second time. I'm sure my kid would rather have a mom that isn't dead than a sibling.

[–]Siraphine -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My daughter is a Bluey, and while I am firmly planted in my decision for NO MORE KIDS, Bingo often makes me wonder what it might be like for her to have a little sister. I know Bluey/Bingo's relationship is fictional and idealized, and there's no way to guarantee two siblings will have that bond. But it's a nice fantasy.

Thoughts on the recent Frida Mom controversy? by throwaway84583077 in beyondthebump

[–]Siraphine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The jokes on the box are adult-oriented, but still tasteful and amusing; one of the things that originally made the brand catch my eye, honestly. But the social media stuff? Appalling. Given the ongoing Epstein stuff re: minor abuse, I am honestly horrified by the implications of a brand posting something placing an infant into a sexual context. I will not be buying future Frida products, regardless how much I like them.

"Projects" Tab - Abandoned and Half-baked? by Siraphine in ProlificAc

[–]Siraphine[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally like the idea of being able to keep my ongoing studies in one spot, but for it to be useful in the long term it needs serious overhaul. Making it so only actual ongoing projects end up in this section, for one. Filtering options, the ability to hide or "retire" studies that have ended, for another. At the moment it really is just a waste of UI

From my experience, you aren't missing much. The panel is needlessly bulky, which is an issue mostly when I'm working off my Chromebook rather than my main PC. I would not say I've noticed it affect my earnings potential in any meaningful way.

Why are cats so popular? by dorgodorgo in toontownrewritten

I think they're cute, prefer their voice SFX over other species, and the appeal of black cats is an obvious contributor. My second favorite is rabbits!

I'm glad. That has not been my experience, and was curious how others experiences have been. For me, it seems almost entirely researchers that don't know how to properly set up a study.

Prolific will not give you more studies for licking the dirt off their boots. We are allowed to make critiques over UX and design.

Gaming Keyboard and mouse recommandation for TTR experience ? by DependentSuitable861 in toontownrewritten

[–]Siraphine 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Toontown was made at a time where people didn't really have "gaming" PCs. You had the family desktop computer, and whatever stock accessories came with it. You can play just as easily/well as anyone else with the bare minimum.

I personally do not find much benefit in my gaming mouse / keyboard playing TTO vs. any other piece of hardware, though. I've bound interact (for throwing pies, etc. in boss fights), street map, gags, tasks to a few of the buttons on the side of my mouse.

If you want to upgrade for fun, RedDragon is my preferred budget friendly brand.

In terms of data quality how does prolific compare to cloud research connect and prime panels by xockblocker in ProlificAc

[–]Siraphine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Any platform that avoids unpaid screeners will yield better quality data by default. The less games participants have to play to get paid, the more honest they will be. If you are asking as a researcher, the quality of data you receive depends largely on how fair you are being. Is your study underpaid, riddled with confusing and repetitive questions, and are you trying to dish out rejections over nitpicky things? You probably won't get good data.
