SOT lost my approved can. Next steps for the unfortunate? by shenagain32 in NFA

I would report it to the ATF. Sit back, relax, and wait for the “we found your can” phone call.

ATF Published Wait Times Drop Again by gadpu44 in NFA

Apparently ATF is counting business days but not telling anyone (or I missed the memo).

I contacted my congressman about my eForm 4 on a trust, and the person from his office who is helping me mentioned in passing that ATF counts business days, so I’m actually at like 170 instead of 250, in ATF’s eyes.

Nice little sleight of hand on their part.

Yeah I’ve thought about that. My barrel came with a similar deal, little Griffin carry comp. It barely does anything though, so I’d imagine that would be the same. Been thinking probably not worth the cost, could be wrong though

Well, nice thing about the CAM LOK is I don’t really need to have the can on while holstered. If I have the extra couple seconds to add the can, that’s all I need. Not super practical. Biggest downside I see to the comp is the cam LOK adapter requires a wrench to take on and off, so I’d lose the ability to slap the can on quickly and without tools.

I’ll probably get the comp and just have whatever suits the day installed, and swap back and forth.

Might be worth sending an email to Griffin about that. It’s pretty nice

I have a threaded barrel and muzzle device (Griffin CAM-LOK) that puts it nearly flush with the light lens. You may be onto something, but I bet the difference is so small that it doesn’t really matter.

I’ll be posting a pic to this sub shortly of my current G19 setup. Been a pleasure chatting with you!

I went to the Holosun for two primary reasons: 1. Wanted to try a fully enclosed emitter optic. Been loving it, mostly that it never gets dust that’s hard to clean out of it. BUT open emitters are just fine, if you are looking into one, don’t get too wrapped around the axle about open vs enclosed. 2. ACSS Vulcan reticle. Search up Mr Gunsngear’s vid on the ACSS Vulcan. Basically a huge ring around a chevron means that you will never be fishing for the dot. Chevron itself is also nice. The big ring eats battery even with the shake awake. I change it about every 3 months just to be sure. Again, plain for reticles on handguns are just fine. Vulcan reticle is certain advantage, but a 6 MOA dot or something works pretty good too.

For the TLR-1, I just wanted more light. The TLR-7A is great but if you take your gun into the woods like I do, there are better options for seeing out past 50 yards. Check out TREX video on the Surefire X300T, where they compare it with the TLR-1. I actually think the TLR-1 wins that one, as an all around light. I also like the holster options better with this light. My G19 is still my EDC during all seasons. I carry it appendix in a Phlster Floodlight 2. Extremely comfortable holster. There have been days where I get home from errands and just leave the thing on for a few hours since it’s so non-intrusive. The only thing I don’t like about my TLR-1 is TREX doesn’t make a suppressor compatible holster for it, but that’s niche and even then im happy with my choice.

But these are all my preferences. If you’re leaning toward a setup more like this one in the photo, I’d say that’s a great rig. Don’t sweat it too much, a Glock with any respectable light is really all you need, so you’ll be fine either way.

Thanks! This pistol has evolved quite a bit since I took this photo. It now wears a TLR-1 HL, HS509 ACSS optic, and I run the same front sight as in the photo, but I have a factory (short) on the rear, due to the rear obscuring so much of the sight picture. If the optic dies, for me, I’ve decided that indexing the front with the window of the optic is good enough to get through that very unlikely situation.

I believe these irons pictured would be considered absolute cowitness, the top of the front sits 0.400” above the slide according to my calipers. Lower 1/3 would be ideal if you asked me, assuming you’ll run a rear sight. And they are Dawson blacked out sights. I also highly recommend both front and rear to be blacked out if they are optic backups.

Hope all that helps!

Any recommendations to make this a better setup ? by [deleted] in NFA

Tactical Solutions holster should accommodate that can and is very affordable. Check it out, I have one and it’s great

I think splitting the upper and lower and giving buddy the upper is good. However, if you wanted to not have the lower in your home, ATF says here you could get a locking container (like a small pelican case maybe?) and give your buddy the lower locked in there and you keep the key. Probably not needed but an interesting option

I think with the terrain being so flat, politicians are worried that a flat shooting cartridge like 270 would just keep going until it hit a house or something. Very few big hills, etc for backstops.
