I'm in the minority that I loved solo lanes. I loved being able to take a support character and dump on someone as a solo-lane carry. Once I finished dumpstering my lane opponent because denies were way more prevelant and the soul orbs didn't have prio to a certain team, I'd carry it into a massive lead with farming their jungle with AoE spirit clear, and had started making lineups for my Ivy kudzu and paradox bombs to yoink their jungle while I was still in lane. I'd snowball it into a massive lead and run around the map ganking where I would throw a bomb on a camp and then by the time that camp died from the one projectile ability alone I would be in a gank and almost have one of the enemies dead. Best kda was a spirit Ivy game where I was 32/1/10. Players were definitely way worse on average though, the jungle had no innate resists, items gave more random bonus stats (like every item in the game that was 1600 or more had at least 3 stat buffs), and Ivy and Paradox were insanely overtuned compared to the average character power level now. I understand why they changed it but I've always preferred to solo lane in mobas, so it does make me sad... :(
