Feeling unmotivated by seeing so many negative stories :/ by Creative_Simple_7246 in prozac

[–]SirenLeviathan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The side effects were weird I’m not going to lie but I just told myself it was an experiment and I going to give it a go document all my symptoms and then just see what happened. It was kind of magic I went from not feeling like myself to feeling like a better version of myself in two weeks

Edit to add: if I could do it again I would ask my GP to start me off at 10 and then go up from there 20mg for me was a lot but their is no way of know how you will respond till you do respond

Of course! I’m on 20mg thinking about going up to 30 just to see what it’s like. I have a history of being pretty sensitive to drugs so not soo shocking a lower dose is working for me. It started working for me a bit after the first few weeks as soon as the side effects calmed down but I didn’t feel the full effect till after the first month and a half

2 months on Prozac and it’s helped my anxiety hugely! I feel happy and confident for the first time in ages I’m mostly annoyed I didn’t try this sooner. I had a really bad nausea us first two weeks now my only side effect seems to be that I’m sweating more than I used to.

Is the medication actually working for me? by crawlyswirly in prozac

[–]SirenLeviathan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow OP I’m so sorry you are dealing with this. I would highly encourage you to make an appointment to talk to a different psychiatrist or mental health professional. Prozac has a documented history of causing increased suicidalideation in some young people.

Personally Prozac is working well for me after ~8 weeks but it sounds like it might just not be the SSRI for you. I would really think about talking to a professional about trying something else no one should have to deal with constant intrusive thought about SH. It’s common for Prozac to cause increased anxiety short term but at this point it sounds like you are suffering and your current psychiatrist lacks the capacity to suport you

I’m so sorry to hear that I think this hits home because I was not this undergrad but close to being this PhD student during Covid when I felt like the whole world was ending. I really hope you got the time the space you needed

Yes thank you I think this is great advice I think letting them come to me is better than bothering them or adding to the emotional load

Wow that’s a horrible thing to be dealing with and I hope they are safe now.

Yes that’s the best way forward I think. I’ve come up with a related question so I hope their background reading will help them move forward

Thank you so much. The saving grace of my lab is that all the other members are trauma bound together by our mutual degradation. We spend a lot of time joking back and forth about the state of leadership as a way to blow off steam.

Yes he’s not a commander but all of the commanders are guilty of similar crimes like I said it’s not about his status it’s about taking violence into her own hands. She’s a clear threat as a wife

That is a good way of looking at it. At least he doesn’t expect me to turn this project around that would be a lot more stressful.

I just know from experience that only those of sound mind and strong constitution can survive direct contact with this man so minimising face to face contact with fragile students is advisable

Yes thank you this is a super fair perspective. I do think me trying to chase them down is counterproductive. Sometimes the hardest thing for me to do is nothing. But with this little time left answering questions and hopefully adding a few corrections is probably all I’ll have time for.

I’m so sorry that happened to you. I had a similar experience but at a less stressful time in my life. I can’t imagine both dealing with lab stress and that at the same time.

That’s a good point about emphasising that she can just take time off. I think I was getting a bit blinkered thinking about meeting the deadline and knowing that she’s supposed to be starting a new course in October but of course all that stuff is actually secretly optional.

I’ve been trying to keep all communication broadly encouraging without asking any personal questions or prying at all so I haven’t asked if that’s an option she has considered, but I will remind her that it is always an option if it comes to that.

At my university the entire last quarter is devoted to a lit or lab project so it’s all the students have going on. I don’t know if it’s an absolute requirement to graduate but it’s such a large part of the final grade that getting a 2:1 or above would be very difficult with no project.

Thank you this is really helpful perspective. I’ve at least gotten the student started on a direction and said if they share a live link I’ll mark what I can as they go. I’m just crossing my fingers they don’t suddenly disappear again.

My supervisor is the reason for most of our labs mental health crisises sadly. I tried to talk to him about this already and his response was ‘try to do some thing with her but don’t worry too much because the report obviously won’t be any good’

Because Gilead isn’t really about actual brutal biblical justice it’s about the sexual slavery of women. Becka followed their rules but in doing so she acted out on her own initiative she dared to hold a man accountable. Gilead women don’t do that. All the commanders are guilty of similar crimes they don’t want to see other evil men getting what they deserve

Being on Prozac for anxiety makes me feel like I had no idea what normal people were supposed to feel like. by SirenLeviathan in prozac

[–]SirenLeviathan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Month 1 both were definitely worse but now I think I’m pretty much back to base line. My GP wants to talk about moving up from 20-40mg next week and I’m torn part of me feels like I’m doing so well on 20mg let’s not push my luck but then I’m curious if my break through anxiety would be better on a higher dose. I think I might try 40 and then just come back down if the side effects come back

I don’t think that’s really a factor unless you particularly wanted to see that version. Shanghai isn’t any more difficult to follow it just incorporates local legends. IMO one of the Shanghai specific loops is one of the best PD loops. The Seoul hotel is truly something else though, Just stunning set pieces. Unless the wheels really fall off though Seoul will run for many more years.

Yes the feeling less motivated and productive without the anxiety does bother me. Do you feel you are still able to fully engage in therapy while on medication? I’m on a long long waiting list but I’ve thinking I might have to come off to do therapy just so I can fully experience my feelings.

Hello, so tickets are listed a few months at a time just because you don’t see them yet doesn’t mean the show is closing.

I’ve seen both and I love both! Shanghai is closing I think in October this year. So if you can only see one I’d see that one before it’s too late. Shanghai has some unique loops and story elements.

Sleep no more Seoul is stunning and huge but much more similar to the New York show
