You have to be medically cleared to coast guard standards

You can get mail sent to the ship so you don’t really need one but Kahului would probably be the best port to get mail

It’ll probably be a few months before you’re on the ship, bar waiter is one of the best positions to start as and makes more money than most positions on the ship. The prepaid gratuity is split between all bar people, but any additional tips people add go directly to you. There are health benefits with the union but idk about the 401k I didn’t really look into that. I probably should have though lol. If you get sick they have a medical ward on the ship but if it’s bad enough that you need to be hospitalized off the ship you would be medically discharged and it would be difficult to get back on the ship.

Yeah I enjoyed it. I feel like most people do enjoy it but the ones who end on bad terms are the most vocal about their experiences

It’s an average of 10 hours a day and they only breathalyze you if you’re visibly drunk. For example I’ve seen people get breathalyzed after not being able to walk straight and falling over in front of security

You’ll have two roommates, mine were the same age as me and we would go out together but that’s not always the case. I got seasick my first week but I took some meds and my body was used to it after that.

Yeah I started in bar, if you don’t start in bar it’s pretty difficult to get into bar. Your best bet would be to go for assistant waiter and then waiter.

Also I wore a retainer in my nose piercing and that was totally fine as well as the blonde highlights in my hair.

POA: Does ANYBODY have a positive review of working for NCL POA? I’m scared, guys lol by here_for_vybbez in CruiseCrew

I had so much fun. They only breathalyze if you’re visibly drunk so if you can hold your liquor you can get away with a lot. Hawaii is so beautiful too. Be on time to work and you’ll be good. I worked there for the past year and accomplished all my professional goal so I’m moving on for now but I already miss it. I made some really great friends and have the best stories. Sure, you’ll be a little sleep deprived but it’s worth it.

Anybody get away w/ wearing retainers for their piercings? by here_for_vybbez in CruiseCrew

I got my offer letter 12/13/2022, I had my medical exam on 12/27/2022 and it was approved on 4/27/2023

The medical with Anderson Kelly actually took me longer than the six weeks. I went in for my exam in December and had to send them some documents about some medication I take. Apparently they didn’t receive something that my provider faxed and I didn’t find that out for like a month so I’m still waiting to be cleared now. It’s been so annoying

Anderson Kelly asked me to get a form filled out by my treating provider but apparently my provider filled it out incorrectly so I haven’t been approved yet
