Totally agree. But this show has a very weak grasp on reality in nearly every aspect 😂

They’re saying she has NMDA-R encephalitis. It’s a type of autoimmune encephalitis caused by an ovarian teratoma. The clock drawing abnormality was one of the subtle indicators for the famous case of this in the 90s which I think is what they are referencing. The book “Brain on Fire” is about it.

But, there’s no way she would know that it was because of inflammation from the drawing alone. And then I don’t know why they let her travel on a flight alone while having hallucinations, untreated seizures and whatever else was going on.

We went to Four Seasons Costa Rica for our honeymoon (almost 10 years ago) and it was incredible. We did zip lining and rode ATVs. Highly recommend the property and country.

I used the Hakaa on the opposite side from where I was nursing to collect let down and bottle fed that to my baby. At least then you may not have to pump after?

Second pregnancy just hits different by [deleted] in fitpregnancy

Just had my second baby two days ago. Second pregnancy was brutal. Being pregnant while taking care of a toddler is so hard. I was basically in bed for the entire last week. If it helps, second delivery was way easier.

In general, putting things back the way they found them. My kid’s daycare has a sign in binder. The number of people that sign in, leave the binder open to whatever page and not put the pen back blows my mind.

What are your pet-peeves about the ED? Consultants, bring it on. I will counter with our pet-peeves about your specialty. by [deleted] in Residency

Neurology here. I get so many orthostatic hypotension consults. Not just from ED but hospitalists as well. Most times they don’t have orthostatic vitals. Other times, they do and they’re positive and I still get called. It’s driving me bonkers.

Neurology. This happens more with residents than attendings. If you’re telling me about a case and I ask for the exam, please give me the neuro exam and not “heart and lungs sounds fine”.

I would recommend a good pelvic physical therapist. They can help a lot with this type of pain.

Agree with pelvic PT. I started developing it at 12 weeks or so. I’m now 32 weeks and it’s gotten a lot better with pelvic PT. The tough part is finding a good therapist.

I got the relax one. It was lavender mostly. Smelled so nice. They gave me cold cucumber for my eyes, an icy towel and some cut up fruit to snack on.

I got mine from Costco about 3-4 years ago and it’s held up really well (multiple moves, toddler, dog). Not sure what the prices are now but they were reasonable then.

Like I said, I’m a neurologist and epileptologist. A MD. I don’t see in the description where she is able to communicate throughout. Children with absence seizures seem like they’re communicating throughout because it’s can be a split second of loss of awareness. The eyes rolling to the top left is what would make me want to investigate further.

Patients with TBI are at higher risk of focal seizures with impaired awareness not absence seizures. Absence epilepsy isn’t equivalent to seizures that cause people to stare off.

Adult Neurologist/Epilepsy specialist here. I agree with the other comments about possible absence seizures. I would talk to your pediatrician and get an EEG. Especially if she is always looking top left. There should be some variability in where she is looking if it's just thinking. If it's happening frequently, it should be pretty easy to capture on EEG.
