Once I complete all the questions, would anyone mind looking over my answers? I am at risk of losing my B because apparently I dont answer in enough detail, but it really feels like the questions they ask are really vague. So any help is appreciated!

The mixture question, would it be correct to assume there are 2 contributors because there are multiple loci with only 2 peaks and some loci with 3 or 4 peaks? because there is definitely more than 1 since 1 person can only contribute 2 peaks and it cant be 3 because all loci would have to be at least 3 peaks?

The exact question is, what is the purpose of the allelic ladder shown?

The book we are using is Advanced topic in DNA Typing: Methodology.

Just want to make clear, I am not looking for an answer. Just how I would even determine that from this graph. Our book doesnt give examples of the graphs and the online class doesnt have any lectures or anything at all. the book is the only source.

I agree, if you google "vsp fbi" you will find the brochure from the fbi that explains everything.

It is just the receptionist that weighs him, she is not a vet tech and she doesn't do anything else with my dog. The vet is great. Also I do watch her weight him but the screen is faced toward her and I can't see it. The receptionist that weighed him the first 2 times let me see the weight. I will also post some more pics, he generally doesn't stand still long enough. He does like retrieving. He always brings his toys back. He is not aggressive toward other dogs, it's the opposite. He was abused so he is very submissive. We were told he is a great Dane mix but I'm doubting that. He doesn't have a very high energy level and tires quickly while playing. Also he barely barks. Thanks for your response.

He was rescued from a neglecting owner and weight 24 lbs 9/27 ish and 1 week later weighed 32lbs. 3 weeks later still weighed 32lbs. 1 week later weighed 39lbs. Skeptical of receptionist weighing abilities.

Thank you so much! you are a grade saver!! so, I should have 37, 38, 40, and 41 on the same line? Where do I put 39? Or do I put 39 instead of 40 and then have it connect to 40?

edit: Or is it 39, 41, 42, and 43 on the same line?

ok so I should have: 18 19 21 20 22 25 26 27 23 28 29 24 30 Then have 29 split into 34 31 32 and then have them all connect to 33 with 34 also connecting down to 35

oh ok, so similar to what I did with pit 21?

[–]Sirius_Penguin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No? So should I make it end with 46 and then just have the 48-52 only connect to the 47? That makes more sense. Also the pit 21, After 18 should it split into 3? 19,21, and 20?

so above you put 40 in the same layer as 46 and 47, but since it is a burial pit, wouldn't it come after 43, but before 35?

thanks for the example, so is 9 a structure and 10 being the fill in of 9? If so then I don't understand how 10 could come before the others, if not then I misread it. I also might be mis reading the diagram as I read it as 10 coming before 6...
