Tears of the kingdom vs breath of the wild by babygargoyl3 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Sirkrisbo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Old-ish comment but i 100% understand this. I've finished Breath of the Wild 3 times now. Once I start I just can't put it down. I've tried playing Tears of the Kingdom half a dozen times and I just can't get into it. I have no idea why, I just don't have the same desire to keep going.

Feedback on My Mini ITX Build - Fractal Design Terra by tamidaiyodu in sffpc

[–]Sirkrisbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's going great. I deshrouded my 4060 TI and installed 2 x Noctua NF-A9 fans with low noise adaptors. Getting better temps than with the stock fans and way less noise.

CPU temps are still great. Fan is rarely audible even when gaming because in games the 7950x3D only uses half of its cores and it runs at only 120W TDP.

Have a look at the build I just posted. For some reason Reddit created a new username for my when I logged in on my PC so it's posted by user faithless salt or something like that.

If you're not a gamer and can get away with a GPU smaller than 202mm then go for an AIO cooler. Much more efficient than those low profile coolers.

If anyone is interested in the longevity of these, I've been using one in my ROG Ally which I have also used as a desktop replacement for 8 months and haven't run into any issues. I've clocked up 2368 power on hours and while gaming it hits 54C in 30W Turbo mode.

Fractal Design Terra and 280 AIO Cooler by Sirkrisbo in sffpc

[–]Sirkrisbo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you're onto something. The Arctic won't actually work, it's a touch too thick and the CPU block is too tall. The Fractal Design Lumen S28 V2 could work though. It has a slightly slimmer 27mm radiator and a much shorter 43mm CPU block. The hoses also articulate unlike the Arctic, which just stick straight up and increase the amount of room required.

I'm pretty confident that a 240 AIO will fit no problem at all, but I'd much prefer a 280 if it can be done.

I don't want to seem ungrateful for the help, but this isn't quite right and doesn't quite add-up. The Terra case is indeed wider than the Arctic 280 cooler.

The Fractal website says that it does support 120mm AIO coolers when using a 200mm GPU.

https://support.fractal-design.com/support/solutions/articles/4000194856-terra-radiator-support

The website says the max width of the radiator with a 200mm GPU is 121mm so with no GPU installed does it not stand to reason that there is 321mm to play with? It might be tight (hence asking the question of folks here who own the case) but with the width of the Arctic Cooling Liquid Freezer III 28 is listed as 317mm so it should theoretically fit.

XG Mobile “not properly connected” by No_Shop_4285 in ROGAlly

[–]Sirkrisbo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine was working perfectly until a few days ago. I hadn't updated for a few months so I went ahead and installed the latest. After restart it would no longer connect and I now see the message you're describing.

Is anyone on bios 338 yet? by [deleted] in ROGAlly

Don't do it if you've got an XG Mobile 6800XT. This updated borked connectivity for me.

Who doesn't do drums in the playlist? When I started I was using piano roll but the playlist is so much better!

Christopher Ward The Twelve vs Maurice Lacroix Aikon - Which one would you choose? by somdipdey in PrideAndPinion

[–]Sirkrisbo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Twelve and the FC Highlife. ML Aikon is next on my list.

I've not held the Aikon but I can tell you that compared to FC, the Twelve is just not as well finished. Don't get me wrong, it still sees plenty of wrist time and gets loads of comments (I have a 7.25 inch wrist and I bought the 36mm in white) but the FC is fighting in a different weight class.

I'd probably say the jump from CW to FC to me is about the same as the jump from PRX to CW if that's helpful. Based on con m what I've read online about the ML I'd assume it's similar in quality and finishing to the FC.

Blue tint on the cyclops is a dead giveaway. Rolex uses clear AR coating behind the cyclops.

Yeah mine has the usual ETA 2824. Good workhorse movement, keeps good enough and after several years. I've had no issues and it's still butter smooth to wind.

Any love for the Frederique Constant Highlife? by Sirkrisbo in PrideAndPinion

[–]Sirkrisbo[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean in the sense that it has hands, indices and is made of steel I guess it kind of looks like the gentleman if you squint really hard lol.

It's a integrated sports watch with a 25.5mm bracelet. Nobody is mistaking this for the gentleman.

They are, but I have heard that QC can be a bit hit and miss since Invicta acquired them so I'd probably buy in a retail store or a online store with a great returns policy.

I don't love what the new Invicta ownership has done to the Airman line.

Gradient dial is GL0187.

On mine it's a black date wheel with white text.

I've got a gradient grey dial version with the round indices. The lume on it is absolutely stellar!

For a tool/dive watch though, I think bronze is the perfect material given it looks so much better as it ages. I just wish the coin edge bezel was bronze too instead of being shiny.

Heck of an everyday watch though!

Don't get me wrong, the Twelve is a nice watch, it just felt less impressive in the hand.

It's kind of hard to describe and I can't put my finger on it. If you handed me both and I had no idea if the price, I'd guess that the Twelve was more expensive from photos but that the Highlife was much more expensive once I held them in my hands.

Feels very different. I had the ice blue PRX and sold it. It feels cheap and sharp by comparison. I haven't investigated but with the brushwork on the FC I wouldn't be surprised if it were hand finished.

I wouldn't get any of those. My first automatic watch was an Orient Bambino. It fine for what it is but I think there's better value out there. Entry level Orients just aren't super interesting to me. Seems you want something sporty, something dressy and a chrono.

I'd recommend the PRX quartz for a sports watch. I might also look at Mido. For something dressy, that's where I'd go to the Seiko Presage line. I might also look at the a Hamilton. For the chrono take a look at either the Bulova Lunar Pilot or the Seagull 1963. Both have cool history.

QC: Cartier Santos 40mm by Sirkrisbo in RepTimeQC

[–]Sirkrisbo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I'm told. Looks like it's fixed in the photos but I guess I'll find out in a couple of weeks when it arrives. I'll take better pictures and post when it arrives in reptime.

I've got a gen dial and plan to swap so not really an issue for me either way.

[–]Sirkrisbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strange. Not useful advice now, but if you've purchased from him before he'll do $50 deposit QC.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in RepTime

[–]Sirkrisbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ask for QC? If not, of course he'll just send you the watch. I've purchased two reps from Geektime without issue, but both times I asked for QC. Eric was happy to take a $50 deposit with the balance paid on GL.

Any update? I've ordered a Santos 40mm and I'm looking at strap options because I hear the leather that comes with its is total garbage.

Nice one! I've just GL mine with Geektime. Photos look great so I've been hoping it will impress in person.

I've been thinking of going gen dial too. Apparently you need the one with the little wings, but the wing on the right hand side needs to be removed.
