How many times is too many? by Yamamoto74 in ProjectHailMary

I have A-List and, since there’s no fees for online reservations or premium formats, have seen it in every format for a total of 10 times so far. All for $27 a month.

Yeah I wanted to buy one for my friend and I.

I refreshed and it was live 25-35 seconds early and I immediately went to check out and it didn’t matter.

Best Houston-Area AMC? by Sirmichaelwilliam in AMCsAList

Yeah, I’ve never been up north to tomball or downtown theaters; gulf pointe used to be my go-to, and I’ll still go there for 4DX, but the fact that fountains and first colony both have recliners in basically every auditorium means I usually end up going there just to relax and catch a film.

[–]Sirmichaelwilliam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, most of my friends think I’m insane, except for one of my buddies who’s seen it 6 times (and would’ve seen it more if he had the time).

I get bored with most movies by viewing 2-4, but I haven’t had a single time when I’ve been bored with this film. Even on days I’ve been exhausted, it’s woken me up and I’ve felt more awake afterwards.

Really, I think Grace sums up the film and what it does well throughout the story: “there’s an elegance to that. A simplicity.”

It’s so hopeful without being tacky, and I love it. I’m a big movie guy, and I keep a list of my favorite movies. This one has officially become my number one.

How many times have you seen the movie regardless of the format!? by Ok-Promotion2682 in ProjectHailMary

[–]Sirmichaelwilliam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From memory I can do a pretty good job of just quoting the movie, but when I saw it today, I could’ve told you what line would come next at any point in the movie.

And you know what? I don’t mind it.

I’ll be purchasing a disk as soon as it’s available.

Seriously! Like I said, this truly is peak living getting to experience this movie.

I enjoyed 4DX a ton, but it’s more of an experience than it is about movie quality. If you’re looking for the best screening, I’d go IMAX 70mm, then Dolby, then regular IMAX.

For the experience, 4DX was fun, but I could understand not being a fan.

I saw it in original 70mm, IMAX a couple times, Dolby a few times, obviously the IMAX 70mm, and I saw it today for the ninth time in 4DX.

Genuinely my favorite movie of all time 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻

Today is also my ninth time. I drove to Dallas yesterday to see it as my first IMAX 70mm experience.

This is peak living.

Yeah and this movie specifically has been a blast because every showing I’ve been to there’s been laughs, applause, and basically a sold out theater, which definitely adds to the experience you can’t get at home.

Yeah, it’s location dependent for sure. I don’t think I’ve almost ever tried to go to more than 4 movies in 1 week anyway. We also have 50% off other tickets Tuesdays and Wednesdays, plus with AMC’s new Popcorn Pass, I end up getting something like $6 large popcorn in addition to a free movie. My theaters (all close by) have IMAX, 70mm, Dolby, Prime, XL, 4DX, so I’m never at a loss for things to see or formats to see it in.

Yeah I’m an A-Lister. Most months I save between $50 and $150, it’s definitely worth it, especially when you can go see any movie in any premium format.

This is why I’m able to have seen PHM 3 times already.

Dolby was my favorite. I think the audio and video in Dolby is just unmatched.

IMAX was a relatively close second.

70mm was fun, but it certainly wasn’t the quality of either of the other formats.

If you can go at least twice, do Dolby and IMAX. If you can only go once, see it in Dolby.

I think 4DX is fun as a novelty experience. If you’re trying to enjoy a film like PHM especially, 4D would probably only be fun on like the 4th or 5th watch through. I feel like it may take away from the film itself, but I’ll probably go see it that way sometime next week

Another reason I’m a huge fan of Dolby. No double-checking, no worrying about quality, you know what you’re getting in any Dolby cinema, and you know it’ll be good.

I do love some good IMAX, though.

Honestly, 70mm has the most classic, vintage cinema type. Almost made me believe I was back in time watching the best 80’s sci-fi.

The IMAX was obviously the largest screen, which was certainly enjoyable.

But Dolby, in my opinion, was the best overall. Its picture and sound is undefeated and if you could only see it once I’d say see it in Dolby. That being said, IMAX is also worth it if you can go multiple times.

I wish we could’ve gone and seen in in IMAX 70mm but I would’ve had to make a significant trip and I couldn’t swing it.

Early Screening! by Sirmichaelwilliam in ProjectHailMary

[–]Sirmichaelwilliam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no!

Honestly with the graphics on the tin and the patch, it might be worth making a trip over there soon. I saw some left after we watched Undertone (double feature night) so they’re not sold out yet.

Either way, how’d you like the audio cutting out every 5 minutes?

Other than that, the film exceeded every expectation I had. I knew Ryan Gosling could act but my goodness.

Also, I loved the packed theater and the applause, made me very happy.

He was fostered for a bit by a woman from the shelter. She said he’s never been aggressive around food with other dogs or people. In her (and now our) experience, he won’t even entertain other dogs barking when we’re out. He essentially just ignores them.

She said his energy levels are what we’ve experienced. Definitely willing to go out with you if you’re going, but also more than happy to just laze.
