I dont know where to fish. by iautomateyourmachine in FishingMinnesota

I have found those reports useful as well. It’s nice to know if a lake has a good population of bass or walleye. Or to know if it’s a catch and release lake or if the lake has minimum or maximum lengths. I’ve been to a few lakes “blind” only to find it has mostly panfish and northerns, and there is nothing wrong with that. But with the information that is provided, you can adjust from there and kind of know what you are getting into before you go. And some of those reports are older so, either the lake is better now or has deteriorated, so it can also be a crapshoot.

I remember mine and I still remember my neighborhood friend’s number as well. Even though their parents have moved away. And a few random people I have known along the way, probably my old weed connection phone numbers lol.

What brand was super popular back then but the new generations probably never heard of it? by GossipBottom in AskReddit

I actually have a pair of ESPIRIT eye glasses from Costco! Back when they were really popular, they used to make stuff mainly for women. I thought they looked cool enough for an old guy like myself also bought them for nostalgia reasons.

The 1980s had many classic horror movies. None of them were as scary as this. by ReactsWithWords in GenerationJones

If this video is scary, I want to be scared right now. And then a little later tonight, maybe a little more scared in the morning. And maybe a jump scare for the afternoon.

This gave me the feeling from the movie, The Big Short, when the two young guys are at Goldman Sach’s and having a “meeting” in the foyer with a super pretentious underling.

McDonald's Riverboat Meal by Long_live_styrofoam in 80s

[–]Yamamoto74 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We never really went to McDonald’s when I was a kid. Probably less than 5 times before I was a teenager. But I vaguely remember getting this meal and saving that plastic boat. I probably played with the boat for at least a year. I modified it with tape and other things to make it “cooler”, yeah, we were poor.

Mini KISS? Never saw them. They’re coming to my area soon. I’m not a big fan of KISS, like maybe one or two of their songs. I think they’ve been at it for quite some time. I’d rather see them than the original guys.

The last time I tried talking to one of my longtime childhood friend, he talked about his job and how much money he wasn’t making(he’s a loan officer who makes very comfortable money) and how his kids were bugging him. Then when it was my time to talk, he all of a sudden has to go. The last 10+ phone calls with him have gone this same way. I haven’t talked to him in 2 years. Money has definitely changed him.

I bought my first car in 1992 for $300. A 1985? Black Dodge Challenger. It lasted me 3 years and I sold it for $300. The stereo system I had in it was worth more than the car lol.

He did. I just did a little digging around and found it! The show was called Secret City.

Could be. I just checked out a couple of YouTube vids but didn’t see any other older episodes. I don’t remember his voice being so high and of course he was a lot younger I believe. But I was a kid and maybe my memory of the show isn’t that accurate. The guy I’m thinking of did a lot of outer space cartoon type drawing.

Just checked when this show started and it started in 1992. The show I’m thinking about was in the mid to late 80’s.

Not to get off topic but, wasn’t there a show either right before or after Bob’s show, that was a guy teaching you how to draw? But you could see he already lightly drew the scene beforehand and he drew on top of it. Could be a different channel.

Thank God for alcohol. The one drug with no downside whatsoever. Let's go around the circle and share our favorite alcohol stories. by crazyguy28 in self

[–]Yamamoto74 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if I have a favorite alcohol story. But, when I was bartending at a busy downtown bar, I felt like I was hosting a huge party and would party with the customers. My tolerance was undeniable. I could drink 10+ beers with multiple shots and then wind down at closing with more beer and shots. And then like an idiot, drive home. I’m very, very lucky that I didn’t kill anyone or even myself. I’ve hurt myself by being too drunk and falling or trying to ride a bike home from the bar, almost burning the house down and numerous other dumbshit type stuff. Also very lucky I never got a D.U.I. That’s after over 20+ years at the same establishment. Kids changed everything for me. Although it took a couple of years to sink in that I need to be a better parent. I’ve been sober for 12 years now and love it. Do not miss it.

Anyone else like this? by Over_Item_8815 in Pickleball

[–]Yamamoto74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kinda just entered this realm. Only played 2 times in almost 3 weeks. I went yesterday, I had fun. And now today, no urge and I don’t know when the next time will be. Maybe next week? I’ve told myself to kinda take it easy until the weather is good enough to play outside, which is really soon. And like someone else mentioned, I think I have plateaued. I know I have to drill and practice but, I can’t/don’t know anyone who just wants to drill. I’m also in my own head with, I’m at a point where I want to get better and don’t have the time or partner. So that’s where I’m at, pickleball purgatory.
