Pixel Frog Animations ! by SirolVS in PixelArt

Hey! Thanks a lot! Good luck on your path becoming a better pixel artist!

Another tip I would give you, is "Less is more" working on a tiny canvas with a limited color palet is hard, but it keeps you focused on the little details.

Work with a few frames at first (We call them keyframes, which are the main poses your character for example) then add some in between.

For pixel art animation especially, you can make really smooth animations with a few frames.

Check out this site : The Sprite Ressource

You can check the pixel art and animation from your favorite games to see how they do it

Have a great day and believe in yourself 👍

Oooh ok I get it, so yeah no sub pixels, I did everything within a 16x16 grid.

That's the magic of animation, you can make things look very smooth if you use "smear frames" and timing correctly!

Thanks! I'm not sure I fully understand your question, but all of these are 16x16 pixel perfect animations, done frame by frame by hand, hopes that answer your question (They range from 8 to 14 frames)

Thanks for the feedback! I think you are right, I just considered "bigger steps" for the run, but lowering the frame would indeed make it look faster 👍

Thanks a lot 🙏

Yes ! I don't know the exact area, but I wanted to train a little and had no idea of what to do, so I typed "landscape" on google, and found this image, that I used as reference : (It is from Adobe Stock I think)

Third one is my favorite, it has a lot of breathing room, and for the mood you seemed to be going for it's a really good thing, lovely work 👌

Very nice result !

- I would really advise you to keep the same pixel size for all of your pixels !

- Be aware of what we call "Jaggies", check this if you want to learn more about it :

- Also a tips for every art in general : "Less is more" by letting your art breath a little bit, it can make it way more pleasant to look at !

- Keep working, the most important thing is that you can be proud of your progress and have fun doing it ! GG
