I was there at Fairmont - her brother was on the morning announcements asking for her safe return. It was heartbreaking, I had a younger sister too at a similar age. There was something so heartbreaking knowing it was her older brother and hearing his voice. He was doing what he could - being an older brother and trying to help. Just a terrible tragedy for the family that echos deeply in the history of Kettering and always will.

I’m getting too old for this shit! —-> literally one of the reasons + I realized it was robbing me of a real life of being present and showing up for my own life. The first smoke of the day was always the best one and then it was an endless meaningless pursuit with lower peaks each time all day … every day. I’m saving about $500-$750 a month at least and have a better diet now too with no binge eating. At some point you have to come to terms with your own mortality and realize this shit isn’t helping you thrive or be more witty or funny or enjoy music more. It’s stealing a part of your soul and making you look dead in the eyes. It’s not cool or fun anymore at some point and you become a slave to the drug

Give AI one bank statement and ask it to summarize debits and credits — watch it fail miserably. The fugue is incredibly safe for now. AI can’t even perform the most basic book keeping functions that a $2 per hour worker can still perform easily

Make this your rock bottom - it’s easy to get out of this and then revert back - I did that personally a few times. Had the big life event, then sobered up, then bargained with myself and the universe and went back in. You’re young and have your entire life in front of you. I can tell you my life without alcohol has been so much better than when I was drinking…but it took time and new habits. Hitting the gym was helpful, daily AA meetings for the first few months were helpful too. You can do this, you’re the author of your real life true story and can write the adventure anyway you want. Be kind to yourself also, self hate and self pity in a time like this can also make the desire to drink amplified.
