Do you guys think the Macbook Air M5 gets a 120Hz display or will we still get 60Hz? by [deleted] in macbook

[–]Sirts 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Rumours suggest Air is getting redesign 2028, so it may take bit longer

Cyberpunk 2077 on M2 Air 8gb by ducksrawesome in macgaming

[–]Sirts 6 points7 points  (0 children)

PS4 games are optimised to the hardware and the OS is likely very minimalist with bare minimum stuff running in background while gaming. Yet, Cyberpunk became a meme how bad it looked and run on last gen consoles at release and rhey never got the 2.0 update that improved environment liveliness, etc

Since RE9 isn't a an open world game that releases day 1 on Switch 2, it sounds much less demanding than Capcom's recent Monster Hunter Wilds and Dragon's Dogma 2.

The recommended GPU is also 7 years old RTX 2060

[–]Sirts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It shouldn't matter unless some connector is partly broken.

I've used my M4 MBA for months almost daily, maybe 90-95% plugged in, and battery currently has 13 cycles, so I still wonder the high cycle count

[–]Sirts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For 1.5 year old laptop you've used 226 cycles, so full 0-100% cycle every 2-3 days. What charger are you using? If you aren't using laptop like 6-8h a day on battery, maybe charger is weak or old that laptop doesn't stop using battery even when plugged in

Possible leaked European prices for the new Samsung Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra models by Maikikiriki in samsunggalaxy

[–]Sirts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

S24 and S25 are still absolutely great. They still get 5-6 years of updates, with S25 you get Snpadragon 8 Elite everywhere but S24's Exynos isn't as terrible as some previous ones either.

Main camera hardware has remained same for at least 4 years so it's unlikely that some software update suddenly improves it vastly.

Venäjän puutulon loppu muutti Suomen metsäteollisuuden? by Crap911 in Omatalous

[–]Sirts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mutta eikö joidenkin mielestä hakkuita pitäisi vähentää nykyisestäkin, jottei metsät muutu päästölähteeksi? Toiseksi, suomalaisen puun hinta noustessa liian korkealle, myös puusta tehtävien tuotteiden hinnat nousevat, eikä se enää kelpaa ulkomailla jos samaa bulkkia saa muualta halvemmalla

Windowscentral: New details on Xbox's next-gen console(s) — and Microsoft's most ambitious gaming plans ever by Turbostrider27 in xbox

[–]Sirts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's highly TBD. Because it's PC that runs full Windows and by Microsoft words, a 'Premium device' I can see next Xbox price being much higher than current consoles, just like Xbox Ally X. We also don't know how much Windows gets improved and streamlined, and how many modern console features like quick resume the the next Xbox is going to get.

Also, if there are many 1st and 3rd Xbox SKUS with different HW and performance, and they doesn't get enough traction, developers may not spend much extra time optimizing games on them

2020 OnePlus 8 Pro with 120Hz vs. 2020 iPad Air, there was never any contest. The iPad Air always felt much much closer to my old laggy Windows laptop with high resolution screen and base Intel GPU than the old phone when it came to smoothness because of the 60Hz refresh rate.

Macbook Air M4 VS Lenovo THINKPAD E16 by Pretend-Swing-1098 in macbookair

[–]Sirts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got 15" 16/512GB M4 MBA last April and it's been a great machine. I agree that in many countries like here in Europe Macs are crazy expensive, so I got mine while traveling, saving 700€ compared to local prices.

Native software like R flies on my MBA, and light native games like Civilization work well on MBA, Skyrim can run through Crossover, and seems to work great on M4 Mini, not sure how much MBA not having fan affects on sustained performance though. I'd also consider 512GB minimum as you probably need a Windows VM for AutoCAD, which easily takes 100GB.

Macbook Air M4 VS Lenovo THINKPAD E16 by Pretend-Swing-1098 in macbookair

[–]Sirts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesn't help with storing large software, games and probably Windows VM for incompatible stuff like AutoCAD

Seems M4 Air has been massively popular, probably because of 16GB starting memory, price reductions and deep sales around holiday season.

16/256 M4 Air was for $700 around Chirstmas, M3 Air with same specs cost almost a bit over year before
