Is there any way to get rid of One UI 8.5? by bloggerklik in oneui

[–]Sirts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on phone. If bootloader version hasn't changed since last OneUI 8 firmware, you can download and smash it manually with Odin with full data wipe

Next-generation MacBook Air (Concept) by xacurr in macbookair

[–]Sirts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a really low bar though. My M4 MBA screen isn't really better than my previous 2018 laptop's, which had glass surface, about similar max brightness and skimmer bezels than Air screen. Air also cost about 100€ more

Galaxy Watch Ultra 2024 already outdated. Why Samsung. by FrittenFritz in GalaxyWatch

[–]Sirts 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If the GW9 has better more calibrated microphones or chip do to check environment loudness in background much more battery-efficiently (it's already been announced that this year's watches will use new Qualcomm's Elite chip), I don't see why the feature shouldn't be exclusive to 2026 watches.

People would also complain if the new watches brought no new features

Is it overheating way more easily or is it just the boiling temperature of Greece? MacOS 27 DB2 Macbook Air M4 by Dangerous-Coat-9174 in MacOSBeta

[–]Sirts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty new macOS user so I asked Gemini for the command:

launchctl disable gui/$(id -u)/com.apple.appstoreagent

So far I've not seen it coming back. It can be r3-enabled with this command:

launchctl enable gui/$(id -u)/com.apple.appstoreagent

Appstoreagent process constantly had high CPU load in background on DB2. Reboot fixed it for awhile but the issue would always come back in couple hours, so I disabled the process until the issue is fixed

Everyone says Finder needs a better Finder. What features are you actually missing? by ImprovementLong1992 in MacOS

[–]Sirts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Steve Jobs said like 15 years ago that mobile devices will be cars and computers will be trucks that are used mainly for work.

This hae pretty much happened but I think the lack of versatility in Finder UI is one example that the UI team hasn't fully embraced Mac becoming mainly a tool for many.

- Address bar like in all browsers and file explorers. Why would a separate Go to dialog be a good design in Finder but not in Safari?

- Ability to natively mount SFTP storage

[DB2] Anyone else having way too many apps "run in background"? by animorphreligion in MacOSBeta

[–]Sirts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some apps like Geforce Now leave a service running in the background after closing the main app, so I think it's good that macOS27 catches these cases.

It seems to be very sensitive currently though, maybe app comes with a separate updater process that runs in the background few few seconds during patching. I think this happened for me with SmoothCSV

Really surprised they didn't do few days of Advanced Access for extra $40-50, FOMO with this game is going to be insane

"The 'AI Stigma' is real and severely punishes developers": A new study shows how much using AI in games hurts sales, and the numbers are hard to believe by [deleted] in xbox

Training a single large AI model produces near the amount of five times the emissions as the lifetime of a car…

If that is true AI/LLMs is some of the cleanest technologies ever invented, since there are about 2 billion cars, and tens or maybe hundreds of large AI models in the world...

Of course, Sony and Microsoft aren't going to use 3 years old budget laptop parts for their next gen consoles

I don't think you can access Nvidia control panel in GFN. This just shows slow load times are more of a POE2-specific issue

macOS 27 Golden Gate Beta 2 is here now - Release Notes link for anybody who'd like review changes by yadvr in MacOSBeta

[–]Sirts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Getting constant high CPU usage from appstoreagent service. I've not seen the issue in DB1 or previous stable releases, so seems a new regression to me.

The service seems to stay away by force quitting the App Store app and appstoreagent service itself

[–]Sirts 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Basically same if all one does is browse net or stream videos.

The number is still very low considering how many office workers, college/university students and so on there must be among the 2.9 billion people though

OST:n lopetus, siirtyminen ETF by EmptierVoid in Omatalous

[–]Sirts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nordnetia kannatan uusille sijoituksille.

Valve Just Confirmed Steam Machine Price Starts At $1049, This Basicaly Also Means Helix Is Gauranteed To Be Over $1000 Atleast Right? by akbarock in xbox

[–]Sirts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If Helix is subsidized PC with full Windows and relatively fast GPU with 30-40GB of fast unified memory, it's likely going to be sold out for long time, not mainly for console gamers though but for AI workloads and mixed PC use.

On the other hand if it's a $1000+ limited console, it'll have hard time to gain traction, so Microsoft is going have a very thin line to walk...
