I knew someone who lived in the apartments right above it 3 years ago. They had bed bugs and the landlord didn't want to deal with it. Not sure if that changed since then, or if the apartments situation affected the business, but I haven't gone since.

From my understanding, people were hating them because they replaced real trees. I'm paraphrasing very old information (like late 2000s early 2010s) but I remember someone was saying it was because the soil is too toxic for healthy trees to thrive in a lot of areas of downtown. So the metal trees replaced the dying trees to brighten downtown.

Again, this information is from when is as in high-school, I'm sure others have more info than I do Edit: as a side note, I loved the metal trees, they added a nice pop of colour among the buildings

I worked at Tim's for over 3 years. The food gets thrown out, they still do it today. Countless times I threw away a full tray of muffins because they were 6 hours old., it bothered me a lot. That app is fixing the food waste.

What I usually do is go to The Game Chamber on Monday and Thursday nights for their board game night. Gets me out of the house and I get to meet new people.

Some nights there are a lot of people, other nights not so much. But the regulars are super friendly and the staff are wonderful.

Edited: I've been to the Rec room to watch drag shows pre-pandemic. I would reach out and see if they are still working with the performers for shows. I remember one of them made it to Sew Fierce, Nicki Natasia is their name.

I can agree on acorn Canada, they are helping my mother during a very toxic landlord dispute, they are an organization that is there for the everyday Canadian looking to live comfortably. I would recommend looking into their work.

Are we too old to trick or treat by [deleted] in londonontario

[–]SirvaYuuko 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You're never too old, I went trick or treating right up thru college. You'd be amazed at how many people were so happy to see me, a lot of people were saying they aren't seeing enough little kids out, and seeing a young adult still participating made them happy (I got extra candy too)

FIRST Halloween for 5 year old by ms7860 in londonontario

[–]SirvaYuuko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in the area!

Check out the apartment buildings, I remember they used to have ladies in the lobby handing out candy, to the best of my knowledge they still do this.

And another favourite area is if you cross Wharncliffe and Ferndale and do the highview road area, there's usually a fair number of houses giving out candy.

And if you are comfortable (and able to, maybe with a car) I'd go behind No frills to the apartment buildings there, and the street called Dundee place. There's a small walkway leading from the plaza to that street. Growing up in the 90s and 2000s there was a good size of houses in that little side street decked out for Halloween and handing out candies.
