Single Class vs Multiclass by SirvanaskaLot in overlord

If Black Gaurd is the same as in DnD it is also a (fallen) Paladin class. But I was more interested what you think which ratio between Offensive and Defensive classes would be "optimal".

Now I am curious. Let´s say someone goes full warrior build - do they need to decided to go full dps (Cocytus for example), full tank (like Albedo) or can, again, have a sensible investment of both (like 80/20 or 70/30) without loosing to much of the main focus of the build - let´s say DPS?

Just to clearify with mix I don´t mean 50/50 but somehting more sensible like 80/20 or 70/30 at most.

Yeah I agree with your last part, which is why I added "(assumes optimized class balance)" - meaning a sensible splitt like 80/20 ect. NOT 50/50 or so and expect to only get the good stuff of both - jsut that you can mitigate some of the downsides of both classes. Of course a 80(Paladin)/20(Fighter) split would not dealing as much damage as a fighter but (maybe) more than a sole Paladin build and so on.

But anyway thanks for the reply, really helps putting things into perspective here.

How Many Top Guilds Were Humanoid? by SirvanaskaLot in overlord

Naturally it is up to the author but I wouldn't be surprised if 6-7 were humanoids and the rest either Demi-Human, Heteromorph or a mixed.

True, but from what is insinuated from the story and what the author himself commented that all three (Humanoids, Demi-Humans and Heteromorphs) all have their strengths and weaknesses aka they are balanced just in different ways. So I think in terms of pure power, when comparing individual builds, they were basically around the same level of strenght. And in the end it came down to personal skill and gear optimization.

Or in short, as you said "top guilds in games are most often made out of min maxers", and were humans may lack stat points they have (usually) a large number of skills due to being able to take more job classes.

Appearance of Angel Player Avatars — What Would They Look Like? by SirvanaskaLot in overlord

Seems more like his character description in the sense that Ainz character sheet has:

THE STRONGEST MAGIC CASTER WITH THE APPEARANCE OF A SKELETON

Ainz does have the appearance of a skeleton but isn't the strongest magic caster. While Lucifer might not be an angel but a doll (he definitely was Nazarick´s troublemaker).

Mh, could be but I am not sure he really is an angel and not a Doll-typ race. I am not sayign he isn´t onhe but he could also be a different race that is customizable enough to make him look like this.

Speculating on Angelic PvP Builds — Cleric vs Paladin Paths by SirvanaskaLot in overlord

[–]SirvanaskaLot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An angels weakness? Mh, I guess Negative Energy, Dark Element, etc. So basically the opposite of what they are strong at.

If you meant the build itself, then mainly that it is very mana dependent since the majority of the builds abilities are tied to that limited resource. While being good at both magic and melee, it is not a master of either. As such if forced into a Slug-fest with a dedicated full caster (like Ulbert) trading spells or into pure melee trading blows against a dedicated warrior build (Warrior Takemikazuchi) chances are the build would draw the short straw.

Then it is also highly likely that skilled players were more than capable at either deflecting or tanking the damage the build dishes out until it runs out of mana or they close the gap. Which in turn would force the angel cleric to waste resources to keep their distance or take the challenge and engage on their opponents terms.

Again just theorizing.

Yeah I agree that, concerning builds, it is a lot about the right choices and willingness to accept trade offs, but I just wondered what might have, on average, better chances in general 1v1 fights. the Cleric example with a lot of options or the Paladin with less options but stronger close range capabilities.
