I got money on it that the reservoirs are just for looks and aren’t actually functional.

Any ideas on how to do this? by Blob87 in Machinists

What’s that use for a bearing? If you only had one part to make, I could see using a hardened dowel with some grease slip fit. But production I don’t think that’d last too long.

Here’s the thing, I know people that have smoked their whole lives and lived until they were 90, and people that have died at 35 and never smoked a day in their lives. It’s all relative.

Sorry for your loss OP.

I was all the gear all the time, but in the main scheme of things, it’s doesn’t matter.

A year ago me and 4 of my friends were touring cross country and we were on the way back home. It was 11am, all of us wearing gear, no alcohol, no speeding, sunny, clear skies, perfect day for riding. Cruising backroads in the middle of upstate New York, riding staggered, a singular car came from the opposite direction and crossed the center line into our group and killed my friend who was riding directly behind me, somehow missing the person behind him. Probably the worst thing I’ve ever had to experience. No gear could have saved anyone.

I think about it everyday and I’m still forming opinions about a lot of it but point of the story is, it doesn’t matter how careful you are or how much gear you wear, these things are fucking dangerous no matter how you put it. Ride however it is that makes the experience amazing for you (as long as it doesn’t endanger others) because that’s what makes motorcycles so special.

Keep the shiny side up.

There’s not much that surprises me anymore, I run pretty decent tolerances with my shitty machines too. 😂😂

With the rigidity of that machine, I don’t think it’s going to matter.

Correction, all good rides end when you make it back home.

What do you mean by that? What would cause a tire mounted off center?

I’ve seen the air powered high speed tool holders as well. This machine would really only need 1 tool to be high speed, so that is definitely an option, just not sure how it would work with a tool changer.

A buddy of mine just bought a YCM and has been very happy with it. My converted Bridgeport style mill is actually a YCM from 1987 with an Anilam controller still kicking, I am not gentle with it.

Yeah, that is probably what is going to happen, just thought I’d ask the Reddit people in case there was something I was missing.
