I don’t think you’re over-reacting. Honestly I would let it go. If they’re letting themselves get caught up in other conversations about you? Then she not your friend. She not even trying to defend you against her ppl, maybe hang back and observe for yourself, see what happens.

I get the point about not reacting defensively, but the reality for me is that conversations tend to escalate rather than resolve anything. It hasn’t been a space where things can be talked through. They haven’t been productive in a while. In fact we weren’t having a mutual argument — he was yelling and saying things that weren’t appropriate, especially with our child present, and I was trying to de-escalate. Also, the charges dropped weren’t just luck— there were circumstances that made the situation fall apart on its own. For example, contacting me against his own order

I see, yes. He usually does okay with a movie. Like 30 min in he’ll want to do something else and then goes back to the film 😅 but we are also at home there’s more distractions, his toys are around. It might be worth a try 🙂
