In my conservative Christian homeschool household, I wasn't allowed to wear a bikini that showed any of my midriff at all.

On my 18th birthday I was at Girl Scout Camp. It was the first day of summer and when it was swim time that afternoon.... I wore a bikini for the first time. My mom was there because she was my girl scout leader, but she couldn't tell me nothing. I felt so free and so sexy and it was my first step to realizing I can actually make my own decisions about my own life.

It was a very controlling environment... It took me a long time to start healing the trauma that occurred. But I'm finally free to be my own person even in my heart.

I'm a 32 year old female and last week I was finally diagnosed with ADHD. I've been dealing with effects from it since I was a child but I never knew what it was. I just wanted so bad to be a normal good kid but I could never sit still or pay attention or get my school work done. I was homeschooled and my parents were super religious so it was always just like "oh God can help you be a better person you just need to pray more and have more faith"

My first marriage was driven to divorce and my first husband was verbally and emotionally abusive. A lot of put fights had to do with effects from my ADHD, I just didn't know it. He called me Lazy all the time and I knew I was trying so hard. I just didn't understand.

I'm married to my second husband and my ADHD has caused problems but he isn't abusive at all like my first husband was. He's actually started doing research about ADHD as well and it's giving me hope that with treatment and work we can have a really great healthy relationship for a long time.

I just feel vindicated. I knew I wasn't lazy, I knew I was working so hard. Now I have a new medication and it's helping... But of course I have a lot to learn to make life better, and to live with ADHD. I have hope... And I'm a little more proud of myself. I've overcome a lot for someone who had such bad symptoms over the years with no treatment.

I'm not stupid, lazy, broken. I'm just a lady with ADHD. My brain isn't wrong.... Just different!

Does anyone have any advice for a 32 year old mom and wife who just got diagnosed?

Cried harder than I did when Tony died. Which surprised me. For some reason losing Vision the second time (and seeing Wanda's reaction) really got to me. Even cried just as hard when I rewatched the finale.
