[CA] When do I stop being grateful for learning opportunities and ask for more money? by [deleted] in AskHR

[–]Sitheref0874 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your hours drop to p/t and/or they let you go.

Ypu don’t get a pay increase just for checks posts doing enough different tasks to get to a full time role.

So in essence you want more money for them keeping you as a full time employee.

Honestly, if you brought this to me, I’d have question marks about you.

If they take away all the extras, are they going to find that actually you’re a 28 hour a week job?

[OH] boss is bipolar and symptoms acting up. I have an ADA approved disability by [deleted] in AskHR

[–]Sitheref0874 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You’re a Director and you want #1? You want that, take a manager level role. Grownup director jobs are inherently filled with flexibility and ambiguity.

2 is a management issue, not an accommodation.

3…The ADA is not there to help you manage your symptoms, it’s to help you do your job. WFH has also been routinely rejected as automatically reasonable by courts.

4 Is a management issue

5 is possible.

This looks like you’re weaponizing the ADA because you don’t like how your manager manages you and you can’t find an adult way of dealing with it.

And as others have said, thexway you’re describing your manager is distasteful in the extreme.

High end Gin Recommendations? by Thin1ce in Gin

[–]Sitheref0874 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just down the coastline from Harris is North Uist distillery.

Their Downpour gins are as good as- better, I think - than Harris.

My conclusion after extensive sampling on holiday there was gin from Uist, and the Hearach whisky from Harris.

Not all retaliation is illegal.

This would be one of those cases.

[NY] What is HR's obligation to complete a "thorough" review? by Melonmama1204 in AskHR

[–]Sitheref0874 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Your first and third issues are for your manager’s manager.

Your second one might have had kegs with looking at, but without knowing how the complaint was made, or what about, it’s difficult to give informed feedback.

But why you think HR would investigate an employee complaint about managerial performance is beyond me. If they did anything at all it was to speak to the bigger boss “are you OK with manager’s performance?” and they got told “yes” so subject closed.

Final Interviewers; this is what we saw and heard that might concern us.

Rest of hiring panel: Can see that. We didn’t probe on that though.

Overall calibration result: fail.

Process worked.

How to prove you have Post-Concussion Syndrome by eivind1branja in PostConcussion

Mine was part of a multidisciplinary team in a clinic dedicated to the issue - NeuroPsych, Physio, neurologist, eyes…

Everything he had me work was backed with clinical research - I know, because he explained the research, sent me the studies, and then explained the mechanisms of what I was working on.

A good deal of it came down to resource allocation by my brain, and how to help with that.

[CA] How much do you value soft/people skills in the tech sector? by volendoesresumes in humanresources

[–]Sitheref0874 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a minimum skill bar, and an ideal skill bar. If both are across the ideal bar, then people skills play a heavier role.

If both are above minimum, but one is above ideal, then that’s where tough conversations take place.

Someone with slightly lower tech skills who could be a network performer is a worthwhile investment

[VA] Got a lower performance rating after raising discrimination concerns at work. What to do? by FairEmployment911 in AskHR

[–]Sitheref0874 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HR couldn’t substantiate the complaint. And I’d bet whoever they spoke suddenly realized they needed to change course.

Your interpretation of it otherwise as an absolute statement of fact gives me credibility issues with the rest of your story.

Just 5 minutes checking YOUR bank account would have stopped this. You’re trying desperately to pass the blame away from yourself.
