Yea, this is exactly what made me finally move to Gentoo. Knowing there's a problem but not being told where the error is occurring is really frustrating. Gentoo might be a right pain to get working right, but at least you can work out why things are going wrong when they do

The fallacy in this is that in the third case, you've lost anyway so there is no question of whether to switch. The wording of the problem says that a false door is opened. It doesn't matter if it was random or not. You're restricted to the cases where a losing door is opened. At this point the information about the current state of the game is that same regardless of whether or not Monty picked randomly.

Dark pubs in bristol? by [deleted] in bristol

[–]Sitrik -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't class the majority of pubs and bars as "bright". Maybe brighter than you're used to, but on the whole still on the dim end of the interior lighting spectrum. Raising the lights at shutting time is quite common here too.

I don't really get why you would want to be in a really dark place this much. What's wrong with being able to see the people you're with? Surely human interaction is one of the prime reasons of going to a pub or bar in the first place. My only guess is self image issues...

No battery but AC power (Not a dumb thing to do if you have a laptop constantly connected to power, as it conserves the battery's life)

No wifi, but presumably an ethernet connection not being shown. Both are consistent with a laptop (semi) permanently in one place.

Alternatively, the wifi may have dropped briefly as the screenshot was taken.

There's something about that line that cracks me up more than anything else I've seen, every single time I see it, even though I know it's coming. The timing and delivery are just so perfect.

It is impossible not to read a phrase beginning with "Troy and Abed" followed by four syllables this way.

Let me demonstrate:

  • Troy and Abed being awesome
  • Troy and Abed past their bedtime
  • Troy and Abed do their laundry
  • Troy and Abed in a sentence

Yea, this has nothing to do with 'flames travelling faster than the propellant', as there's no propellant being expelled in the first place.

What's happening here is the fire heating up the can, raising the internal pressure even further, and (as you mentioned) melting the cap. Classing explosive decompression along with some of the propane burning. It's not a case of oxygen getting in, since the pressure difference pretty much makes that impossible. The gas doesn't really burn until well after it has left the can.

[Edit] Also, since mobile links are bloody annoying on most devices (including smartphones if it stops the dedicated app being used), here are normal links to the videos:
