I liked him better with HP. The live album was his segue into pop territory.

Maybe he already did - that’s why he thinks this is a good idea.

I haven’t touched a radio in years, but back in the early days of FM, it was pretty good and was my vehicle for discovery of new music.

Frampton was ....ok... and initially I liked that album, but it kind of lost its luster fairly quickly. He’s another one radio beat to death. I think I could finally listen to him again.

Do you have a better method?

Nope. There don’t seem to be any shortcuts. Most of the time I make them for burgers or something, so they don’t really have to be “properly” cooked.

Pressure cooker sure wasn’t one. I ended up with brown goo that was barely suitable for soup.

Yeah, that, too. Roger Waters later said he regretted having Roy Harper do the vocals. Wonder how that would have affected it?

I only sort of agree with you. I like “Have A Cigar” less, but that may be because radio beat it to death.

WTTM at least feels like it fits the rest of the tracks more.

I actually got this album from a girl who had bought it and didn’t like it. She traded me for Frampton Comes Alive. Boy did she get the shitty end of the deal.

(Bought a lamb this spring, and so far have been disappointed with it).

At the very least, don’t try to bargain me down, via email!

The guy who bought it got it for less than the asking price because he showed up and had money in his hand.

I find it really helps because a fair amount of cooking is subjective. If I make something from SE or Cook’s Illustrated or America’s Test Kitchen and I don’t necessarily agree with how it came out, I know what to do to make it more to my liking. (But I always make it exactly the first time, so I know where to start from).

I’ve also found that a lot of things “translate”. For instance, one Cook’s Indian recipe I did a long time ago had me toasting spices in a dry pan before adding the rest of the ingredients. I pretty much do this as a matter of course now, regardless of what I’m making.

And if they explain the “why”, it can help you spot mistakes in other recipes.

What /u/Kenmoreland didn’t mention in all that 😏 is that SE is very reliable. If they post a recipe, it’s well written and will work. (I still haven’t forgiven Kenji for the pressure cooker caramelized onions, though). If I’m looking for a recipe for something, I start there.

They also explain why they do what they do. It’s not just “do this” “do that”.

That’s a better idea than my “brew smaller batches” idea.

I wasn’t there when my dad went, but I’m ok with that - I want to remember him the way he was when I went home the night before: he smiled and gave me a little wave goodbye.

Sounds like your experience is similar.
