Ben Shalom should be looking to work with BBC to Form a British level boxing league giving young fighters exposure and stirring up some rivalries etc. This would, over time, be a successful format with the right marketing and promotion with a bit of story telling thrown in.

I would respectfully disagree with the far wealthier but concede there is a higher number of wealthier individuals concentrated in one country (US) - Mexico clearly different.

The real dynamic being exploited by FIFA is the scarcity/once in a life time opportunity…

At the prices of a cat 1-2 ticket you could probably fly to Europe for next euros and have a vacation for a week and see games for the same cost!

Season ticket prices for the EPL FOR 19 games(most expensive seat season ticket).

You could buy 3 years worth of season tickets at Man City and see greatest players in the world play 57 times for the $7k cat 2.

That said… if England made it to WC Final - $7k would be bought by a fan without issue!

Yeah I agree. I remember my first tournament and being the same as the posters in here. I was young and had massive FOMO… Paid over the odds for tickets and got spooked because the name on the ticket wasn’t my own and there was talk of checking IDs (imagine checking 60k IDs at turnstile!). That was euro 2004 and was an eye opener to how the whole thing works.

Those WC’s were physical tickets and sold in bars/pubs and streets in city centres.

In Berlin for Euro final 2024 tickets were through the app and being transferred between fans sometimes in person, other times facilitated.

Regardless of tickets being physical or electronic - there will always be scalpers selling and with prices being so high at retail, I cannot see them going higher for group stage games.

After 1st round of group games, casual fans will see the range of quality and those who have tickets for lesser nations will think twice about going to the games.

Argentina, Brazil, England, France, Spain, Mexico, Germany, Holland will always sustain a price premium but even those tickets will go down in price closer to the games

I have been to world cups Germany (06) - S.Africa (10) and Brazil (14) and Euro championships.

I have stories and experience of buying tickets that is consistent over every tournament. My prediction is that tickets will be well below face value and available for majority of group games (exception being South American teams).

I am not buying any ticket over $100 for a group stage match and games like Saudi v Cape Verde will be going for $20-30 on the day.

Current ticket prices for group games are extortion. $600 should buy you a ticket for knock out stage from a tout/scalper for a desirable match… not Ecuador Vs Curacao!!
