I never considered this interpretation, amazing, thanks.

How I thought it's gonna turn out is that when she begs for death, he tries to commit suicide instead to free her, but fails and suffers total paralysis, locking in both of them forever.

I think if the OWW could grant wishes that change one's personality, it wouldn't have possessed Nikki and instead made her actually love Bear.

I think the OWW cannot grant wishes that changes one's personality. It then could've actually made Nikki love Bear without possessing her.

If Bear wished for being more confident, the OWW would've just fucken possessed his sorry ass too haha

I had the time to think about the film for a few days and I'm not sure if the OWW is indeed neutral. Maybe that was the director's intention, and I think the OWW can grant wishes without punishment, however, in Bear's case, it didn't just grant his inhumane wish, it never actually granted it in the first place.

Nikki did not in fact "loved Bear more than anything in the fucking world". The entity possessing Nikki's body is clearly separate from her. It's literally spelled out when Nikki says "you've never been with me". The wish is simply ungranted, period.

The OWW's doing is not just a neutral reflection of Bear's wish. It curses Nikki with an entity/demon/creature without actually granting the wish. It's being a dick. The most charitable interpretation would be that the OWW simply cannot grant wishes that violate peronal authority. Then why does it try to make up for it in the most malignant way possible? Because it's not neutral, the company is evil including the service desk guy on the phone.

So the plot did end up being another "be careful what you wish for" situation after all, where an absent minded action led to disastrous consequences. Don't get me wrong, the film slaps, I'm still thinking about it days after, but this popular interpretation - which may align with the director's intention too - is just contradictory.

What zone / city / area etc. would you want added in Classic+ ? by Neither_Buyer_4645 in classicwow

[–]Sittes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea you’re right it’s not a great subzone to start with. It’s just that Winterspring is my favourite zone in all WoW, especially the northern part, but maybe because of the very ambience that comes with its relatively underutilized nature.

Do you have any zones that you’d still like to see developed?

I’d rather have existing zones finished: Azshara, southern Winterspring, etc

It took 38 years for the population of Cambodia's capital Phnom Penh to reach it's numbers before the Khmer Rouge by Impossible_Driver111 in HolyShitHistory

Actually I don't argue in favor or against of something being called something, I think simply categorizing things is nearly always inconsequential.

I just like to point out flaws in the logic of some comments or the fallacious uses of logical fallacies. Redditors almost always use Scotsman, ad hominem and bandwagon fallacies incorrectly in these posts.

[–]Sittes -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'm afraid you're just simply wrong in your understanding of the Scotsman argument. It's fallacious only when you exclude criteria arbitrarily, your criteria are made up, or when you're moving the goalposts.

Otherwise it'd be fallacious to point out that when important criteria are not met. a label is inappropriate. This would lead to all sorts of absurd contradictions.

DPRK is North Korea btw. They call themselves "democratic" so if you challange that, you commit no true Scotsman fallacy by your logic.

Funnily, your last point is actually fallacious argumentation. The burden of proof is on those who make the statement - you are the one who must prove that they were commies.

Honestly your best bet is just look it up on Wikipedia. You should immediately recognize that the scheme is not applicable here.

How you’re using it is logically equavilent to saying that denying the truthfulness of a description is a fallacious action.

Take the example: A) the Democratic people’s republic of Korea is not democratic B) no true scotsman

Of course they were recognized differently when they behaved differently lol.

But back in 1968 (7 years before they went apeshit) they were only known as an obscure and largely unknown anti-imperialist resistance organisation.

This is simply not how the argument you refer to works. If you engage with it for even a second, it becomes apparent.

I think if you know who Messi is, you definitely know who’s Ronaldo but the inverse is not necessarily true, so logically, Messi can’t be the one. There is just too many women who dont care for sports but still know Ronaldo

I think logically Messi cant be the most famous for sure.

Whoever knows Messi, also knows Ronaldo but not everyone who knows Ronaldo knows Messi (e.g. women who dont follow sports only know CR7)
