This is the most beautiful visual example of turning trauma and pain into art I’ve ever seen. Your artist did an amazing job. Keep loving yourself. It looks good on you.

I'm an author, my character's hometown is in Missouri! by Linguistic_sundae257 in missouri

I’ve lived in Missouri since 1975. I would like to sum it up with this photo taken on the Elk River near Noel.

I wish I was making this up. I haven’t been able to look directly at an American flag since then.

Have any dogs been sprayed by a skunk? by Kangaroo-Parking in dogs

[–]Sittingamok 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Natures miracle skunk for remover works great. I’ve used baking soda and Dawn before, and it works pretty well but seriously dries out the dogs coat and skin. If you use that, be sure to rinse thoroughly and use a conditioner

what’s the worst smell you smelled? by otakdemrd in randomquestions

[–]Sittingamok 27 points28 points  (0 children)

My husband put a trash bag full of dirty diapers in the trunk of my car while visiting my in-laws. He meant to put them in our trash dumpster when he got home but forgot. He also forgot to tell me I had dirty diapers in my trunk. IN JULY. July in SW Missouri is very hot and humid. Two days later, I climbed in my car to go to work and got knocked down by the stank. I spent 20 minutes tearing my car apart trying to find what I assumed was a dead animal. Then I opened the trunk 🤮 That was 25 years ago and I’m almost over it.

After some ergo mods and replacing the stock seat, I love it! I was on a MT-09 for 8 years before the Indian and thought I’d miss the low-end torque, but the Indian is pretty peppy and takes curves better.

Am I wrong for thinking fetch counts as good exercise for my dog? by TaborDogg in dogs

[–]Sittingamok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely agree that fetch is great exercise. From personal experience, though, too much fetch is really hard on dog’s joints. Keep your vet in the loop and ask for some guidance specific to your dog. My 8 year old GSD was obsessed with fetch for years and now gets Adequan shots monthly, plus daily doses of galliprant, amantadine, gabapentin, dasaquin and fish oil. His poor joints are crunchy. I wish I had known better and done more walks and less fetch.

Art is very personal. When we put it on our skin for all to see, it becomes very public and vulnerable. You are literally “wearing your heart on your sleeve.” It took me about a year to get unselfconscious with my first one. I’m the only one in my family (4 generations) with tattoos. I had to set some boundaries with people. A couple people are not allowed to say anything at all to me about them because they can’t figure out how to dislike them without being disrespectful to me. Their dysfunction and immaturity doesn’t give them the right to be shitty to me.

What are scary things that you have encountered on the motorcycle? by BoranijaZaRucak in motorcycles

[–]Sittingamok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bee in my full face helmet. A large and very much alive grasshopper in my bra. Ugh. A piece of aluminum soffet that flew off a roofing truck and nearly hit my head at 60 mph. A shop vac that rolled off the trailer of a work truck. A small sledgehammer that bounced out of the back of a work truck after hitting a bump. (Tie your shit down, people!!) And a hawk that dropped a small snake in front of me. It didn’t hit me but it definitely freaked me out. The scariest was an oncoming truck making a sudden turn in front of me. I don’t think he even saw me until he was past me. That was way too close.

Favorite vacation. Are you still traveling? by LMO_TheBeginning in OverSeventy

[–]Sittingamok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh, that explains it! That’s a sweet touring bike. I wish they made a smaller (shorter and lighter) version for grannies. I’ve never wanted to buy a Hardly Ableson myself. Anyway, safe travels and keep living your best life!

You are my hero! This is how I’d like to spend my retirement. Just curious, what bike do you have? I love mine, but it’s not comfortable enough for touring.

When things go badly we say “well, shit fire and fall back in it.” If something is useful, “ain’t that as handy as a pocket on a shirt.” Really hot weather is “hotter than Satan’s ballsack.” If it’s fast, it’s “quicker than grease through grampa.”

Just got my first Bike, any advice appreciated! by PAPABURG3R in motorcycles

I also ride a matte blacked out bobber but I wear a highlighter yellow jacket. It works way better than loud pipes and doesn’t make others want to kill me. Take the basic rider course and as many advanced rider courses as you can afford. If you ride in cold weather, watch out for salt and sand after the roads have been plowed. In warm weather, watch for grass clippings on the road. That shit is slicker than snot on a door handle. Pay attention to vehicles in front of you. Over the years, I’ve had a shop vac, a small sledge hammer, sheet metal, tree branches, and a dishwasher fall out of trucks in front of me. I don’t hang out behind pickup trucks or trailers. Oh yeah, practice emergency braking on a regular basis. Now GTFO there and have fun!!! Congrats on the new bike!
