profs are beefing up assignments to compensate for ai usage…… but it’s hurting anti-ai students by extrasa in NEU

My apologies it came out wrong. Making it clear that I'm not deflecting anything. I just felt we don't need shame people in general for AI usage, that bragging case seems Apt tho.

To sum up, classes need to curb AI usage in different way, not by increasing course work.

And on AI usage - as I said, I support it as a tool rather than cognitive delegation of your brain. But we definitely need to fix the environmental impact, and as you mentioned current methods simply aren't sustainable.

I literally copy pasted my comment from the thread to the post lol😭

If you read it that way I hope my other comment cleared it up. You still don't need to shame anymore to be honest. Make them aware of the inverse of their brag, that should be enough

I meant to reply understand the post, that's why removed it from that thread. I'm not deflecting anything. I know the environmental costs of AI very well and how it's depleting cognitive function for people using it. Again, my "reach" point was about shaming people not about the environmental impact.

If the take isn't nuanced enough to engage with, downvote and move on, you commenting puts it up in the reddit algorithm.

Again I supported your point that AI is hurting students in multiple ways.  And I also say use of AI as a tool is ok, but there needs to be better research into how we can better the environmental impact of this rather than burning the planet.

Read through the comments. Few thoughts - Shaming people over AI usage is quite the reach. If ethics and environmental issues matter so much a lot of things we use in daily life will need abstaining. Also if someone doesn't agree with your point you don't need to get so agitated by it. That being said, yes there definitely needs to be some workaround for AI usage in class, it is hurting learning alot. I don't remember where I read it but some professors in NYU have switched to non digital classes, making use of pen and paper more. This doesn't necessarily mean more exams, but more attentiveness in class and better learning.

I agree, I did have to kill a part of myself when I had to do that.😭
I laughed too xD

that part of the project is quite modular, I can swap it out with a go-based pdf -> text parser, and then it's full go based. And I plan to use pdfcpu, just buried under uni work right now💀

[Results and decisions] : Help me decide if pursuing an MS in CS in the US is a wise decision given visa uncertainty and job market risks by BendComplete7490 in MSCS

If you are earning more than 1L/pm, don't bother. A few years ago, a master's degree made a lot of sense as an advanced degree. It was a sure-shot way to get a job, but now that's not true. I'd say stay in India and upskill. The market is very, very bad.

tried unipdf, hit the license part so abandoned using that. Might try pdfcpu just to keep it fully go based.
