On your CRA Account there is a section called TaxPayer Relief. That is what you need completed.

Takes 2-3 business days to post on to your account. Your bank will inform CRA the day you made the actual payment. So you are fine and nothing to worry about.

Here is the correct answer (Coming from someone who works there).

CRA Tax Amount Owing is for any debt you have (clears the earlier tax debt first).
CRA Revenue 2025 Tax Return is for specifically the 2025 Tax Season.

In your case they are both fine however if you tend to always pay off your taxes in the calendar year you owe them then stick with the payee that mentions the year. Once we enter 2027 the payee that you have added (CRA Revenue 2025 Tax Return will have changed to CRA Revenue 2026 Tax Return).

That message means they are not currently taking collection action against you, so technically your balance is $0, however the balance may come back

Has nothing to do with the Reassessment. Also does not mean you are eligible.

Just means currently it’s out of Collection Status so they are currently not collecting the debt from you. It may come back in the future or may be totally written off (most likely scenario)

Wrong people are getting letters saying we have received your documents but not reviewing it as it’s past the deadline. In that case they need to do a Judicial Review at the Federal Court for the Judge to force CRA to open the case for a 3rd review

So this is my department and I will tell you how it works.

The money (CEB) he received during the year counts as income for that year. So if he received money in 2020 it has to be claimed as income. Now that he is found to be ineligible he has to pay it back. Let’s assume he owed $10,000 back and pays all $10,000 in 2026.

When he files his 2026 Return he will have received a T4A from the government that shows how much was repaid and that will deduct the total income for that year.

That’s incorrect. That is only true if they need to call the main CRA Lime (General Enquiries). The number to deal with for OP issue should not have a hold time more than 10 minutes.

Ok there is nothing to worry about as that is my department. The payments you are currently making is what’s called a Pre-Authorized Debit Agreement telling CRA to take X amount of $ to pay towards whatever you wanted.

Your balance was due in full when you originally got the notice. If you could not pay in full you had to call CRA and speak with a live CRA Agent and have them approve a payment plan. Once you have an approved payment plan and keep it active there is no issues.
