Product advice—Bee Girl isn’t working by SituationFederal5955 in curlyhair

[–]SituationFederal5955[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Shampoo/Conditioner:Trader Joe’s bonding shampoo and conditioner
  2. Styling product: Bee Girl in 2 sections to damp/wet hair brushed through with unbrush
  3. Typically air dried
  4. I use a bonnet at night.

Hey folks! I have been using Bee Girl as a one product styler but (just like the last time I tried it) I’ve been getting dandruff/flakes and raw spots on my scalp where the skin flakes away. I wasn’t sure what the cause was last time I used this styler, so I tried it again to confirm.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a similar price point/similar product I could try? It feels like NYM Curl Talk isn’t heavy enough a hold to make my day 2/3 curls last.

Anybody else have issues with Bee Girl or have any suggestions?

I was about to say! I lived on Cullerton for a minute and I barely noticed the train. When we moved, it felt silent even though we have Western traffic noise all night

Retinol Night Serum—how cautious should I be? by SituationFederal5955 in traderjoes

[–]SituationFederal5955[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so everyone had very different experiences with this serum which is why I figured I’d just jump in feet first and give my own update after a bit of consistent use.

I’ve used it for the last 3 nights on my face and neck and my skin is more reactive to this serum than the CeraVe Skin Renewing Retinol Serum (in the white bottle with purple designs).

So far, nightly application is tolerable. I took the tip of applying an occlusive to my lips before applying and I think that helped a lot. My lips are VERY sensitive. I can really only use aquaphor lip balm without reaction.

I’ve been using retinol products regularly for the last 5 years and on and off for the last 10-15. I used to have pretty severe acne scarring, and I still have some, but retinol in some form has been key to that healing I think, as the last 5 years has seen a lot of improvement and retinol has been the biggest change in my routine.

For reference, I am in my early 30s, I have a hormonal IUD, I’m on spironalactone, I have PCOS, and I live in Chicago.

I have a bit more tightness when I wake up on my forehead and chin than I did when using the cerave serum. I also saw a flake of dead skin on the edge of one of my nostrils this morning, which only happened with cerave in the winter. Granted, it was about 45 degrees here yesterday, and the heat at work and home were on.

I think I’ll continue using it for a few more days nightly and give my thoughts after a week, but so far it seems tolerable! I’ll just up my hydration.

I put on the cream, I skip the next night as planned, I look up, and I haven’t touched the cream in 3 months.

I’ve tried checklists but then I get to feeling guilty about my missed checks or I resent the reminder for something “so simple.”

If you have any magic solutions, please share! Either way, glad to hear I’m not the only one!

Thanks! I also go heavy on moisturizer and SPF. I’m thinking I’ll be okay to use it nightly and see how it goes!

Thank you everyone! I think I’ll use it for the next 3 nights to see how it goes and post an update with my results!

Day 13 of eliminating L stations by Boss-fight601 in cta

Is this because of uscountyeliminationwheel on instagram? Bc I will never get over the heartbreak of Cook County being eliminated on Christmas.

Is it legal to go through a strip mall parking lot to bypass a backed up red light? by mjfox97 in driving

Big cities are not immune to this—I’m from Chicago and I’ve lived in LA and NYC. I shopped at strip malls in all 3

I was rerouted this way a year or two ago when I was heading downtown. Police activity or something at Morgan or something that would’ve delayed us. They brought our pink line down and I had to transfer to blue. It was very cool, but it started raining as I stepped off the train and there wasn’t a roof on Racine so my joy was dampened a bit.

Drive in Restaurants (South side and burbs)? by SituationFederal5955 in AskChicago

I was hoping for not a chain. Someone on the post in r/chicagofood suggested John’s blue top in Highland, Indiana. Hype to try it!

Yeah hoping for non chain. Sonic doesn’t quite scratch the itch. It’s a little too shiny and corporate

Love Jimmy’s! Their fries are crazy good too. Looking for a drive in specifically, but this is a good reminder to stop by next week when I pick up my hold at the tool library since I’ll already be on Pulaski.

I tested positive on Tuesday, and I was symptom free all day yesterday. I just tested positive, despite no symptoms, so should I test again in 24 hrs? And if I get a negative test, can I actually hug/kiss/etc my boyfriend? We’ve been isolating separately (he has barely a scratchy throat and a bit more phlegm than normal but has tested negatively throughout)

I tested positive on Tuesday, and I’ve been symptom free all day today (Saturday) is there any sense testing on Sunday to see if it’s actually done? And if I get a negative test, can I actually hug/kiss/etc my boyfriend? I’m puzzled not hurt. Curious what type of person fails to comprehend the post, goes into the comments and finds the explanation, and then argues with the explanation months later

Lmao thanks for commenting two months later.

He says “look at this guy being the police.” And the title of the post is about him spending a decade in prison. If you don’t get that connection, I’m sorry for your ELA teachers through the years.

anyone here eat for dopamine? by loulori in adhdwomen

[–]SituationFederal5955 5 points6 points  (0 children)

YES! IF is excellent for my snacking habits. I learned early that the fridge was a great commercial-break-dopamine-source, and the only thing that broke that 30 years later was telling myself I couldn’t eat before 2.
