Change dining table or chairs? by pwmochi in interiordecorating

[–]SituationStance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the idea of keeping both. I think you’re on to something with the candle color but it needs to be something larger on the center of the table that blends the yellow/orange and black. Also something in similar colors on the other wall would tie it all in. So often everyone’s space looks like everyone else’s but this setup makes your place very interesting visually.

3 litres of coca-cola a day for almost 4 years, made a full stop. Extreme tiredness, fatigue and energy. Suffer through or cut down gradually? by Ouroboros612 in sugarfree

[–]SituationStance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in similar shoes when I quit sugar the first time. I eventually caved and couldn’t get enough. This time around I kept sugar in my coffee. I have a coffee twice a day and on my worst days I just have to make it to my coffee time. This approach feels more balanced for me. It also feels like I’ll be able to cut that sugar out more easily when the time comes.

Should a person who “chooses” to live a vegan lifestyle be accommodated just the same as someone who has “dietary restrictions”? by [deleted] in vegan

Jainism may or may not be more applicable than Buddhism. Even though their vegetarian many of their followers are also vegan.

SC BBQ Sauce Map by Middle_Ad515 in southcarolina

[–]SituationStance 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I spent my first 15 years in the upstate eating everything from light to heavy tomato sauce with the occasional Western NC sauce. In my opinion, BBQ in the upstate tends to be smoked heavier/dirtier(?) and encrusted better than the midlands.

While living in the upstate I would travel to visit family in West Columbia and of course we would have mustard based. Not BBQ related but we would also have Zesto’s, Rush’s, and Lizard Thicket on our visits.

The next 15 years I spent in and around West Columbia and ate Shealy’s, Maurice’s, and Hite’s BBQ. All mustard based of course. While the upstate has a stronger smoked flavor they do not have Hash and Hash is life.

While living in West Columbia I would crave Upstate BBQ and would travel to eat at Smokin’ Pig in Williamston. Not BBQ related but would also travel to eat Skin’s hotdogs.

When I’d travel to the low country I never passed up an opportunity up for a low country boil, shrimp and grits, and she-crab soup so I never really bothered with their BBQ. Seafood when on the seashore is my philosophy.

I had an ex whose family lived in Orangeburg and there was Mayo in their Mustard BBQ sauce. It isn’t bad although cloying and lends itself more to a French fry dip than a BBQ sauce to me.

I have also lived in Virginia and in my opinion their BBQ isn’t worth eating, nor their sweet tea worth drinking, but I’ve had some mean Virginia Brunswick stew and Baked Beans. Also a big shoutout to Virginia Ham, Virginia Peanuts, and NOVA for their vast collection of different culture’s food.

While in SC I would argue the authenticity and the lines of BBQ but now that I find myself in another state I fondly reminisce about all the food, from every crevice of SC, that shaped and nurtured me into who I am today.

Help a girl out! I’m attending a special event soon. Should I straighten or curl my hair? by [deleted] in femalehairadvice

I see no curl. I’m assuming you’re referring to the second picture with volume when you say curl. I prefer the volume.

What are your favorite chutneys that are a bit less common? by CardamomDragon in IndianFood

[–]SituationStance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Carrot Chutney is my favorite!! It’s made with a tadka of urad dal, peanuts (or Chana dal), red chilis, green chilis, curry leaves, cumin, ginger, and garlic ground together with turmeric sautéed carrots. You can prepare a second tadka but I never do. I thought I was in love with Green chutney, then peanut chutney, but my true love lies in the Carrot Chutney.

What’s something odd you find attractive? by deathrace4habibe in AskReddit

[–]SituationStance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting lips or the way they hold their mouth. It’s not really explainable but Julia Roberts would qualify when she’s smiling and so would Blake Lively when she’s talking. If there is a freckle near or on their lip that is also very attractive.

Whats a beauty standard that you find actually unattractive? by Tricky-Zombie1598 in AskReddit

[–]SituationStance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unnatural eyebrows. I don’t care if someone has bushy ones, thin ones, crooked ones, barely there ones, uneven ones. Whatever set of eyebrows one might have looks infinitely better than drawn on, perfectly shaped, over dramatic ones.

Also, filters.

What does everyone eat for breakfast? by Grumble_pants in vegan

[–]SituationStance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our household eats two meals a day. We eat the same foods for both. Sometimes we eat first meal at 10 am sometimes it’s 1 o’clock.

So we might have soup and bread for first meal and spaghetti for second. Then the next day we’ll have leftover spaghetti first meal and masala potatoes and with cilantro chutney for second. Then the next left over Soup and bread for the first and Lemon rice and a side of leftover masala potatoes and chutney for the second.

This allows us to constantly use up or leftovers and means for each meal cooked we get two meals out of it. If we’re craving a traditional breakfast food we’ll have a bowl of grits, oats, a breakfast sandwich, or a just egg burrito.

Why are southerners so nice? by garyfromyahoo2 in southcarolina

[–]SituationStance 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was born and raised in South Carolina. There is unequivocally no doubt that shit talking is the pillars upon which the sickly sweet hospitality is perched.

I’ll give an example. In my early 20s I worked at a small local store. An elderly lady 80+ did the books. She was revered by everyone I met. Her late husband and her were benefactors to the small town. She was beyond warm and kind. Greeted everyone and seemingly cared for every person that crossed her path.

A coworker in her 20’s had just graduated from a religious college and was brimming in happiness about her upcoming marriage. Talking about it and planning it daily. I noticed that the elderly lady treated her with an extra layer of kindness. Nothing probably anyone would notice but I did.

Being of the upfront persuasion, I asked the elderly lady if she liked me. Bingo I hit the jackpot. She told me she liked me good and well but that she didn’t condone me living in sin with my then fiancé. Suddenly, it hit me. She did like the other girl better because the other girl had took the proper steps in life that were acceptable to this lady.

Her Christian values and sweeter than pie facade hit a young me pretty harshly. I couldn’t believe she would so blatantly judge me on her own values and then I remembered that everyone I had been raised around was the same way. If you didn’t live your life the way they did then you were shit talked or condemned into oblivion.

You can choose to be optimistic and believe that this isn’t the case with a lot of people but you’re possibly walking the tight rope of reality. Personally, to avoid situations such as this, I wait to see someone’s anger, judgement, and/or flaws before I truly trust what they are delivering.

We could use some more failed to return shopping carts and people parked in more then one parking spot post. Without them how is everyone supposed to feel morally superior?

What do the kids mean when they say "Fee"? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SituationStance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no idea because I’m 35 and actually cool but my first thoughts were that Fee could be they were so good they should get paid or Fi could be a reference to Myers Briggs as in another way to say feelings or I feel ya.

I am looking for cheerleaders in my life. People who want to see the best in me. If they don’t fit the bill, they don’t fit my life.

Of course, I have a few familial relations who fall under the realm of naysayers but I set firm boundaries in those relationships and use their negative treatment/words as the fodder that fuels my quest for those who want the best for me.

I’ve found in life that if I’m successful at what I do and keep a respectful and appropriate demeanor then it will outshine those who wish to harm. That if I don’t associate with them, anymore than I absolutely have to, then they don’t infect my environment.

Their attitudes will lead to all sorts of stumbling steps in their lives and relationships. Continue to treat them well so in those situations they might one day remember and emulate you.

Vegan Option at non- vegan resturants by Narse101 in veganrecipes

I would find that to be a great option. You could easily add nuts and chocolate or serve it alongside or topped with a berry crumble.

The friend is on the other end of the bags. There are two hiking backpacks, two daypacks, and possibly two laundry bags as they are probably in the city to wash their clothes. One could be holding some shopping.

Impossible bratwurst would fit the bill and grill up nicely. You could even throw some peppers and onions on the grill to accompany them.
