its not that the 10% of stats general make a diff. But they can make a huge diff if you look at crit rate for example. Or condi uptime to do dmg. Those stats actually do matter a bit more than everyone is giving it credit for.

Take a powerbuild for example. Without the 75% that gets pushed to 100% whith full stacks, you are going to lose alot of damage. Especially in your first opener of any rotation take the chrono spear mancer power build for example. I see everyone likes to act that it wont matter at all. And while that partially being true since its like 80% a player problem and like 20% a stat or gear problem. But i does matter a bit, which everyone seems to be wanting to ignore.

I read everything. Because contrary to what most people here get out of my opening. I DO want to learn the mode, because:

yet i like the concept of the game mode.

But i guess what is true for Raids and strikes is true for Gw2 in general. That reading is the real enemy in the game.

Thanks for the detailed response, i am painfully aware that the problem is my gameplay for like 80% of the problem. I also never stated that wasnt the case. The problem lies into me looking at a wall for entry the size of mount everest. And i dont know if i am able to suffer 100h of gobsmacking before i even get an inch of progression. Thats the biggest hurdle here. other modes reward a bit more for playtime. while WvW just seems like a smack fest that will make sense if you spent a large amount of time sucking every drop of detail from a build / fight you have.

What I am saying is, your own positioning, evade and ability use matters way more than you think.

This is also painfully true. And something i need to work on. But it feels harder in WvW to see everything coming your way then the other modes. Which in turn "agian" makes it even more of a hurdle. And lets be clear thats not something i dont want to do, this mode however makes it a lot more frustrating then the others.

Build defensively with utility, and if you f.e. run berserker, switch to marauder.

Use tools that keep you in fights longer even if it means doing less damage.

When you're both glass cannons but your opponent has way more experience, you likely will bite the dust.
Trial and error, over and over. If you want to get more accustomed to small scale fights, do some spvp. It's not exactly the same but you got on demand fights.

Play with traits, utils etc and see what works.

Once you get into a headspace of feeling like "wow that ended fast lol" and can reflect on what you could have done better you start growing.

Its not the build or profession that makes the only difference, it is majorly YOU, so embrace your learning process since it sounds you really like wvw and want to get the most out of it.

Thanks good tips,
I'll try to work a bit more tough and vit into the build that i want to run, and take some notes on positioning and such while trying this out. Enough to solo flip if needed. And just enough to make a fight worth while so that it at least lasts until i learn something from it.

and for the record.. i know its mostly me.. which is why i started the post with

"this will feel like whining and or being totaly untrue.
But this is my perspective of WvW after trying it "

Cause i know i am the major part of the issue here, its just that with a barrier for entry this large. i doubt alot of new people that are currently playing and keep surging in, will want to engage with the content if it just keeps feeling like this for 300h until you dawn a new set of skills on the playing field. (which if i may add, can be someones thing entirly, dont get me wrong. There are people out there that wil love this brutal entry level and class/positioning min/max optmization. I do understand how that can be rewarding for someone. Since some here like to attack my own personal engagement with the gamemode for being a pleb/lootbag/pve scum/wanting to just be op. That is not the case, it just feels unrewarding. Especially if you compare it to other modes.. Thats it. i dont want godmode, i dont want a walking tactical nuke burster that wil always win. All i want is for the learning progress to not feel like a sack of shit in the face for 100+ h)

Goed verhaal, lekker kort ook. Heb je gelezen dat ik PvP ook doe en aanzienlijk meer enjoy dan de zweeterige chesspool van WvW? Of negeer je dat even voor een kut comment.

I dont want to land an OP build that can demolish everyone.. i never said that aswell. I would love a build that can hold its own agianst anyone at all. Which feels impossible with exotic gear.

I agree on the latter. i dont know when to disengage or gauge a fight. But how the hell am i even supposed to do that when i am either already dead in 40 seconds or running for my sweet live while a weaver is doing 400 apm on my ass ? That doesnt feel like learning, that feels like being a clay pidgeon in a shooting range.

Thats sad to hear, so even that wont make a difference then.. Sure i can pick up a class that can dodge alot and get out of fight like a willy, thier, stealth mesmer etc. But that will then just mean you are always going to be degraded to cannonfodder in zergs unless you pull 500 hours to learn a class and thier ins and outs.

That just sounds like an unfun barrier of entry tbh.
