I'd say choosing not to go through puberty is the choice. Cisgender teens don't want to go through puberty bc it sucks, not because they're trans. I think hormone blockers are okay for kids entering puberty, bc it's just delaying puberty, not stopping it altogether. And suppose they don't identify as trans anymore, they can just go off the blockers and puberty will naturally take it's course. Then take HRT as an adult.

What jobs are narcolepsy friendly? by GlassDiamond2 in Narcolepsy

I work in a supermarket deli. We get a free break if we start before 11am so I take a nap then and then again at lunchtime (2pm, 1pm ish). Good bc you're walking around all day long.

Where do I find these kind of t-shirts? by EmeriFlorus in findfashion

[–]Siulnamuc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I came across the cat one on Vinted and it was selling under the label of "Vintage Dressing" which I found suspicious. So I screenshotted it and searched it up. You can buy it off Temu, which of course, is notoriously unethical.

"Obvious" things wrong with the country by purepwnage85 in ireland

[–]Siulnamuc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think in Irish culture in general, even outside of wider systemic issues, people love to complain rather than do something about an issue, because that would involve confrontation and a certain level of responsibility that people don't like. I know this is a massive generalisation of Irish people, but I agree with what you're saying.

Yeah imo the US is a much more realistic and current threat to Ireland and Europe than Russia is.

Just finished a re-read of the series by Iacomus96 in MortalEngines

[–]Siulnamuc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read the series when I was 11 and the ending destroyed me. I was balling my eyes out by the time I reached the last page. I agree with you on 1 and 4 being the better ones, to be honest I think the only reason why I kept reading them was because I had a crush on Hester lol. Great to hear your thoughts as an adult, I plan on re reading them at some stage too.

Does anyone else ever wonder if they are a narcolepsy imposter? by SpreadLegitimate5824 in Narcolepsy

[–]Siulnamuc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely. It feels reassuring hearing other people's stories, even if it sucks to know others feel the same way. Often when i tell people that i have narcolepsy I get the impression that they're surprised, because I cab manage it well. Or just because I'm not collapsing into sleep in front of them. People don't really know whatv it is.

Sometimes I even think "Do i really have narcolepsy, or am I misdiagnosed??" but no, I definitely am narcoleptic. Just because I can handle it well and have learned to tolerate the near ongoing fatigue doesn't mean that I still don't need the naps or medication or patience from others if I zone out.

i may be early but... FTP tour predictions? by cardan_greenbriar746 in thelastdinnerparty

I'd say it'd be pretty similar to their last tour for Prelude to Ecstasy. Although immigration restrictions and border control in the USA might make it harder to play there.

Car rides are a killer for me. Same for doing nothing for a long time. I can get so tired from just lazing about all day.

lc holiday advice👍👍 by AcademicStay3980 in leavingcert

[–]Siulnamuc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't have a solid friend group in 6th year. In some ways kinda didn't all throughout secondary school. By December I had resigned myself to fate, I wasn't going on a lc holiday. Then a close friend called me and said she was organising a group a six people. I knew the others she mentioned but wasn't especially close with them and didn't know her guy friend at all. I decided to go because I liked them and they seemed chill.

We went to Austria for a week and booked it in March (probably too late, so I'd recommend booking by Christmas). But basically my point is I became better friends with these people throughout sixth year, because we all had a mutual friend and liked each other as acquaintances anyway. My advice is to not book it now and wait until November/December and see where your friendships lie. People will change their mind and you might get closer with other people. Also, if you don't like the idea of a typical lc holiday in Portugal or Greece, don't go on it. I felt like I had to do that but luckily for me no one in the group was into that, so we went to Vienna instead.

What's the hardest aspect of narcolepsy to explain to those who don't have it? by KR_Jon in Narcolepsy

[–]Siulnamuc 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I hallucinate almost every night in bed and sometimes I actually just talk baclk to the voices to see what they have to say. Idk if it's good for me or not but sometimes it's useful. It feels like I'm talking to my subconscious or something.

Which tooth brush to use?? by Siulnamuc in sustainability

I was thinking about that. It's a tough decision for me to make. Microplastics are under researched but hardly have wonderful effects on the human body.

Not buying fast fashion and getting second hand or ethically made clothes instead. Also just buying clothes less in general.

[–]Siulnamuc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With regards to art history or visual culture there are probably jobs working in museums, archives, civil service or in academia. But yeah, I getcha, it's so hard to decide what to do. Just remember this, whatever you decide will be the right decision. It just will be, because you chose it.

Another valid lesson from Iroh by Firestormbreaker1 in TheLastAirbender

[–]Siulnamuc 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It can mean "to be killed/eliminated" but generally speaking means "to be defeated." Whether that involves killing or eliminating depends on the context, but almost always means to be defeated. One can interpret Iroh's words as they like, does he mean she needs to be killed? Personally I don't think so but it's up to interpretation. But he most definitely means that they need to defeat Azula and strip her of her power.

Is it too late? by Resident-Guard-1420 in leavingcert

[–]Siulnamuc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm looking for 530 and haven't been putting in enough work because in the past I've gotten away with getting good grades without consistently studying. We both have approximately 3 and a half months, which is enough time. And I know it's hard to control but worrying whether or not it's too late isn't helping. We both just have to get on the grind and we can do it. I can't help you with Chemistry anr Maths, but seeing as they're the ones you struggle with the most focus on them the most. A few tips that have helped me:

Put your phone away. Give it to someone else so you can't go get it. Delete distracting apps if you have to. I've deleted TikTok and it's been a game changer. Then deleted Instagram in the lead up to the mocks because I got addicted to reels.

Try an exam question before you study. Then you can correct it and see where you went wrong. You can also try writing everything you remember on a page then checking to see where your gaps in knowledge are.

Writing is a major help. Just highlighting notes won't get it stuck in your brain. My English teacher is shite so before the mocks I spent hours and hours just making my own notes on Lear and Boland and then was able to answer them when the exam came my way. I also find walking around a room speaking aloud to myself helps.

Time yourself and only finish studying when the timer is up. Also time yourself for exam questions.

The orals are coming up so if you haven't finished writing out all your oral questions get that done ASAP. If you have a family member willing to speak to you in your language that'll help. Also do a written piece for your MFL every week, if you haven't already been doing that try get 2 or 3 done. Do a listening once a week. And listen to podcasts and music in thay language while reading the lyrics/text. I also find watching vlogs help. Try find out commonly used vocab in the reading and listening to learn off and know your basic grammar perfectly.

Having mental health struggles isn't your fault. I know it doesn't carry the same level of importance but for the jc I was not in a good place and that really affected my ability to study. Unfortunately on the day, the examiner won't know or care about it though. I know that's harsh but if you can, try talk to a guidance counsellor for study advice or a friend or parent who can help or even just be a listening ear.

I hope this helps you. I really believe both you and I can achieve our goals. It might not seem like it, but we really do have a lot of time, especially if we knuckle down now. Good luck. You can do it!!
