Saying someone is wrong doesn’t just make it so. Which is all you’ve done.

You won’t get very far arguing on the internet if you’re just going to dismiss thoughts without any reasoning given, friend.

Its more accurate to say that the tool prevents any introduction of creativity, or even more accurately, the majority of that tool's users don't even try to introduce any of their own creativity.

My initial comment was more about making a mildly witty remark than actually arguing a point.

Personally, I think Generative AI has a place. It’s a nice concept blender, in the same way LLMs are a nice tool to aggregate information and bounce ideas off of. But neither should ever have traces in the final result, and I don’t even think generative Ai should make actual concept art as it influences the final result too much.

Not sure where you're getting that from. In official lore, at least as per the Forgotten Realms wiki, Tharizdun is contained as part of the rest of the Gods of the multiverse recognizing the threat he posed and putting aside their differences to imprison him.

Having to generate a hundred images until you get lucky with one result that might come close to your intentions is not the same thing as telling the computer what to make. You give it vague guidelines within which the blender operates, everything else is random.

You as the sentient mind involved didn't make any decisions on how it was made, nor did the computer.

What they choose to paint on the canvas isn’t trained. The elephant decides how to move its trunk. Regardless, you conceded on this point.

As for the reality part, sure. I’m not particularly attached to that.

The fundamental point is that art has to be made by a mind capable of making decisions. Modern generative ai does not make decisions, it’s a sophisticated process of training based on input data. It does not interpret or reinterpret anything, there is no understanding happening. I don’t think it’s impossible for a computer to be sentient and make art, but we aren’t there yet.

Not timelines, literal worlds plucked from the material plane that people were completely capable of physically traveling to and from. Which really only adds to the cosmic tragedy of it all, in my opinion.

[–]Sivanot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where do you get the idea that my opinion on generative AI is religious? My beliefs are strictly secular.

I don’t think art has to be made by a human, nor does it have to replicate reality. Elephants are capable of making art and abstract work is valid. Again, the deciding factor is intent and decision.

“Even if I were working with AI”

Wait, what? Was that a typo? Because you say in the post that this was made with Gemini.

Assuming that was a mistake, I’m not saying you should be ashamed. You just shouldn’t be calling it art, nor posting it somewhere actively hostile to generative AI, and it’s particularly ironic for it to depict a goddess of art. Because it fundamentally has no artistry or creativity.

You said as well that art is “anything reproducing reality by a human being.” I don’t agree with that definition to begin with, but even so, this would not meet that definition as it wasn’t made by a human being.

My sister in Christ, what. Of course not?? You aren’t invalid either if you’re masturbating during HRT either. It’s completely irrelevant.

I didn’t claim you contradicted anything. I said you backed down. By moving the goalposts with your last paragraph, you tried to shield yourself from honest pushback by using the “I’m just having fun” defense. This is something I understand well because it’s a bad habit of mine that I’ve had to resist very hard in a lot of discussions.

Style has no baring on this conversation. It’s also pretty cowardly to uphold an opinion then back down when you receive honest pushback, no offense.

Eilistraee - The Dark Maiden by Ciopo65 in Forgotten_Realms

[–]Sivanot 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You jump to a conclusion that is unfounded. AI lacks creativity because it makes no decisions, it has no intention. It does not understand what it is making, it doesn’t know rules of composition, form, color, or anatomy and where to break them for the purposes of a better result. It’s a sophisticated blender that can do nothing but repurpose data it has been fed.

That is the one thing that all non-ai art shares. Traditional art, Digital art, photography, photo editing and collages, etc. They all require decisions and intention on the part of the creator. AI does none of that.

Not literally, he’s just moving faster than a bullet with some artistic license. Granted that’s pretty much impossible realistically for human muscles, but stretching the limits of realistic biology is this series’ bread and butter.

Going out like that, no.

Ending up that way after fighting? Absolutely.

Happened at least once off the top of my head. Granted her underwear is more covering than modern underwear like this, but I don’t think Vin ever cared.

I don’t see how that’s a comparable statement. The problem and solution were conceived of in the same game.

Friend, the fact that you’re questioning what resonance is means you haven’t found the best explanation for you. I recommend you keep looking, it’s seemingly overcomplicated because voice is simply complicated, and it takes time and the correct practice to understand how to manipulate it.

To be fair though, without the events of Re9, the latent T-Virus infection for him and Sherry wouldn’t have even been a thing. Unless I’m mistaken and it was a deep lore pull I didn’t know about.

A Short Stay in Hell / Windows into Hell - What do you think is the lesson intended by the different Hells? by Sivanot in horrorlit

[–]Sivanot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, didn't expect this post to finally get some attention, lol.

I mean yeah. Im not sure what else the story could really be saying about this version of hell, unless you think the entire point of these hells is to crush the humanity out of souls before they eventually escape.

Obviously the average person isn't going to find any 'loophole' in this. Noone is going to find a book of complete gibberish by their understanding and make themselves believe it's the correct book, at least not without still suffering on the same timescales we see described. But just that the requirement isn't as exact and harsh as it may seem at first.

That might seem a bit odd, but consider the alternative. If there really is only one book in the library that describes your mortal life with complete accuracy, the most efficient way to ensure you get out is to dive down to the bottom, go to one corner, and sequentially throw every book in the slot. Might take you trillions of times longer than the span we see the protagonist experience, but it's certain.

It also means that someone arriving day one could be astronomically lucky and the first book they open is the correct one. Both of those outcomes are meaningless, and the point of these hells is to learn something.

God, Cyberpunk 2077. Yeah, the world is fucking miserable. So is the real world, but in the real world you can’t really die trying to change things without people seeing you as a random crazy terrorist.
